What age is a dollshouse appropriate for?

My DD1 will be 3.1 at Christmas and DD2 1.2. I already have a charity shop find dollshouse hidden at their Grandma's house and I need to refurbish it! Question is, do I give it to them this year or next year (when they are 4.1 and 2.2)?
Thanks

I gave my DD1 a dolls house when she was 3 for Christmas and she loved it!! Dd2 also loved playing with it and she was 2 at the time.
I gave DS a firestation with cars and people for his 2nd birthday and he loved that too, they all play so nicely together for ages with the dolls house and fire station...although the game usually ends in tears when he pretends the house is on fire!!
They are currently 5, 4 and 2, so I think about now would be perfect!

Thank you Number4OnTheWay! What do you use as dolls? My eldest loves animals so would Sylvanian families work? She doesn't have any of those yet xxx

We bought dolls house dolls and furniture from Amazon (we had saved vouchers up and used those) but yes sylvanian families stuff would work....personally I probably wouldn't because that stuff is expensive and unless my kids specufically ask for 'collectable' stuff, I stay away from it! Grin
