Good soft toy recommendations

First time poster here! Im not a mum but thought this would be a good place to ask: my friend has a young boy whose birthday is coming up and I need to buy him a present for his birthday party.

Want to buy him a soft toy or teddy bear but I have never bought a present for a child before .

Are there any which are better than others? Do you recommend anywhere to buy from? Im worried that if I buy online I wont be able to see the quality before I purchase. I had Beanie babies when I was little but dont know if they're still a good company to buy from.

Also How much should I be paying for it?! Have seen some 'steiff' bears which are too expensive for my budget but also don’t want to pay a tenner for something which isnt safe or will fall apart... thank you so much!!!

Jellycat are lovely. Also M&S have some lovely plush soft toys too.
Does depend on age too though - maybe a character animal if he is into Pegga Pig, or the Hungry caterpillar? Maybe find out what his favourite book or character is and go from there.
