Scooter suitable for rural toddler?

So I've been reading up here and the mini micro scooter seems like the popular choice.

However we live in a pretty rural area and I'd like a scooter that can cope with a bit of mud, slightly bumpy surfaces etc - I'm not thinking proper off road or anything - he's only two Grin

Is the mini micro good or will I be stopping every twenty yards to de log the wheels? Any rural types out there that can recommend? It's a birthday present that I'm hoping we'll get a lot of use out of so I'm not too concerned about price.

I think you won't get one in scooter form

However a running bike would work ok as have regular tyres. Don't get a wooden one as they are very heavy. The great thing is they can use for a few years and then by 4/5 year go straight on a regular pedal bike without stabilisers as already have the balance. Have a look at:

Ooh these look great, tbh his balance needs all the help it can get!

Thanks

Agree with a balance bike. Got scooters for bigger ones when they were smaller and they never go used because you just can't do the gliding thing on the footpaths. Toddler boy has a balance bike and zooms around on it, fabulous things.
