Cheap educational toys for 4 year old

Need ideas for my dn. Nothing too expensive though. He also doesn't have a huge attention span!

Any board game, with large dice added in would be good. Mine love frustration, connect 4 and snakes and ladders (now 5). Top trumps is also popular, if he is nearer 5 than 4.

Blocks, marble run, musical instrument, binoculars, magnifying glass. Aldi and Lidl usually do lovely wooden marble runs for around a tenner in the run up to Christmas, and Aldi do a fabulous bargain version of Kapla blocks which are played with happily by people of all ages in our house. Jigsaws. Board games - Tummy Ache (cheap) and Max the Cat (more expensive) are popular here. Art stuff.

The puzzle game is best for 4 year olds when you put them together and introduce every letter and the corresponding sound to your child. Or you can give a play school set and sequence board games.
