Help ! Electronic gadget for a 6 year old .....suggestions please !!!!!!

Hello ,

My son has put a wii and a DS on his Santa List .

I'm afraid I really have NO interest in these things .

We have an 11 month old baby , I'm back at work ....I don't like seeing kids gaming ...

However ....for various reasons we are going to get him one .....

But What should we get ????????

And ....and experience of these , any suggestions welcome ????

Also is there any that MAY have SOME educational value??????

Or ???

Please also NOTE my son may be showing early signs of dyslexia ......

So I am trying to open my mind to the use of technology .......to be honest I need to do this anyway .

We do have a tablet in the house which he uses for games maybe twice a week .

It's a classic, will last ages and he'll love it.

What to get games wise? Yes you can go for mariokart or any of the Mario type games. Or animal crossing or Pokemon for more of a "thinking adventure" both would need a little reading ability- but actually would motivate to read more, without him ever noticing !

DS over wiki definitely. He needs to be able to use it away from the small sibling!

I would say the wii as it is more social.

DS changing Wii controller batteries will drive you nuts.

A six year old can work a DS charger.

Just train him to put the cartridges in their case they are very easy to loose.
