skylanders on ebay - can you reset them?

DS is just getting into them and rather than buying new I was looking at some used on ebay - can you reset or clear the memory on them or do they start where the original owner got up to? does this even make sense?

does it not save the details on the console rather than on the figures? (do you mean the figures rather than the game?)

I don't know. When I tried to sell all of ours as a job lot, ds told me they were all 'well levelled up' as though it were a selling point.

I am not sure if that is why no one bid!!

The figures are just that - anything extra is stored in the memory of the console when the game is played.
I have sold some duplicates before but I would buy second hand figures if I needed any more (we seem to have hundreds of the things) as they seem to need to rest quite a lot.

According to DS1 thats not correct. If you take your figure to a friend's portal it will keep its powers. So yes the power stays with the figure. not sure if they can be reset. Suspect not.

"To start a character over, you need to reset it. To do so, place it on your portal after loading a save and enter the character menu (- on the Wii, Select on the PS3 and Back on the Xbox 360) and choose to reset the progress. This will set the character back at level 1 without any gems, upgrades or hats. Please note this is irreversible, and will affect all versions and saves of the game playing with that character."

Yes they can be reset. It does store it on the actual figure but it's very easy to reset them.

It does save on the actual figure. You can reset it via the portal/game.
