How to stop maxi microscooter rattling!

Dd's maxi micro scooter has had slightly rattly wheels since day 1, but several years and many miles later the noise has got worse and is driving me nuts. It's deafening to walk near. Poor old neighbors. My guess is it's the ball bearings in the front wheels (one is worse than the other). Anyone had a similar experience and/or fixed it?!

We changed out wheel bearings in the wheels of DS's mini micro. They sell them (expensively!) on the micro scooter web site but you can just get normal skateboard bearings off eBay or a skate shop for cheaper. Though DS can now go even more terrifyingly faster!
