Am thinking of getting one for DS1 for his 5th birthday. Are they any good and would you recommend?

Also has anyone bought one for a child who has previously shown no interest in superheroes - did it awaken their interest or was it just ignored in favour of stuff they've always played with?

DS has one and loves it. He liked batman before though. If you get one, it's worth getting a few different figures too (the joker etc). DS got a pack of figures - from smyths I think.

Thanks for replying - it just seems to end up really expensive by the time you buy extra figures etc and I'm not sure he'll really "love" it enough to justify. Maybe I'll just buy some figures to start with and see if he takes to those.

Ds4 who.is 5 next week got one for xmas and loves it!

My DS(3) got one for Christmas. He was really into batman before hand but hasn't played with it as much as I thought he would. Hmm

This was the figure pack that DS got. It has a good selection of figures in it. If he hasn't already shown an interest in superheroes this would be a better bet than the batcave. If you do decide to go for the batcave though, it often seems to come up on deals so I'd keep an eye on the various stockists.

We got the batcave for 4yr old ds2 for his birthday, he also got the pack of figures DT got. He's played with it loads - by far his favourite toy - and he wasn't particularly into superheroes beforehand.

Having said that, he went round to a friend's house who has one & that was where he first played with one. So I had a chance to see what his interest was before actually splashing out.

Also agree at looking out for deals or on Ebay/Gumtree.

We also have the gotham city jail which is smaller and cheaper which is great and tje batcar. Yes look out for offers on amazon etc. I got the car and jail on offer at boots in the run up to xmas.

Thanks all - think I'll get the figures first and take it from there. He may just not be a superhero kind of kid, but I know lots of the boys at school are mad on them, so thought we'd try giving him a gentle nudge in that direction so he has something else in common with them.

DTisMYdoctor - I think those were the ones I'd seen on Amazon but I'm sure they were nearly £25 so that's a good price, thanks for the link!

No problem. The batman imaginext toys are pretty pricey on Amazon, Smyths, toysrus, Argos and maybe elc are better for getting deals. Not that I spent a lot of time comparing prices before Christmas...Grin The Gotham city jail is pretty popular here too, DS likes locking up the baddies!
