Garden Playhouse

Not sure if this is the right thread to use for this but here goes.

We've decided to buy a playhouse for ds's (3 and 5) but not sure where to start. Can anyone advise on size, single storey or 2 storey, do your dc actual use them etc etc. Our garden is an ok size so thinking of something around 6x6 feet but obviously trying to buy something which can last the longest. DH wondered about getting something which was more designed for adults so when ds's get fed up of it we can use it. I'm not convinced we'd use it and think it wouldn't feel right for ds's.

Opinions needed please.

We inherited a 2 storey Swiss Cottage style house when DD was 3. We get a lot of use out of it and would definitely go for one of that size rather than a plastic one that they would grow out of very quickly.

You could go for a summerhouse and put toy kitchen, table & chairs in (to go down your DH's route) but I suspect that it might not appeal to the DC in the same way. The people we had ours from said their children used it all through primary school so he could have a long wait before it becomes adult property.

It's a useful home for toy prams and scooters too.

The other thing you need to bear in mind (and I speak from experience Smile) is that you are likely to get roped into their games/tea parties so choose something that you can get in and out of relatively easily (or have a chiropractor on speed dial!)

Me too! We have a 6 year old boy and a 10mo old girl. It's officially for her birthday but I hope they'll both be able to use it.

I've seen a lovely one on a platform with stairs and a slide, we've just bought a summerhouse instead though but for us not the dc.
