Present ideas for 7 year old ds ...

Its ds' birthday shortly and his aunt wants to buy something .. she spends quite a bit, £50.00 or so, so I tend to ask for something substantial that will last him a long time. Only problem is that this time I can't think of anything so need some ideas. She likes giving a toy/book type present rather than a voucher or money. He had skylanders for Christmas which he loves and was a massive hit. Ideally I would prefer him to have one thing rather than a few smaller as other people in the family will get things at that sort of price. He is not the type of child that "plays" with toys .. more of a collector. Can anyone recommend anything or share what their 7 year old is into? Thanks

Just had a birthday there for ds also seven. We struggled for the first this year on what to get . He just wanted more skylanders!! Big hit here too.
He also collects things - Pokemon cards, yugioh cards, beast quest cards ( from the book) spends hours playing with them. The best present he got was tickets for horrible histories at local opera house. Thought this was nice idea as he loves the DVDs of them. Maybe worth checking what is on in your area if you think your son would enjoy something like that. Sorry cant really think what else for a present.

Ds is 7 and a collector too. He likes the lego kits that make something substantial like the star wars ships etc.

thank you both ... I may, just may, have found something ... the Hue Animation Studio that is on the mumsnet toy review page. I think he might just love it!
