Good-quality kids' camera for 7YO?

DS's birthday coming up and he wants a camera. I've heard the VTech ones are rubbish. Is that true? Anyone know of any good cameras for kids?

At 7 I would go for a basic digital one. My 3 yo has one of the vtech ones - it's fine for him to play with and learn about taking pics but the picture quality is poor.
