Melissa and Doug Latch Board - age advice please

Does anyone have any advice re the age suitability of the Melissa and Doug latches board? The manuf recommendation is 3+ but that seems old - I'd have thought that it would be good from about 2, and amazon reviews bear that out. I've an 18m dd, and wondering if she is too young to enjoy one of these, should santa think of bringing one.

We got DS one at 8 months. He loved it! Then we put it away when he got bored and got it out again at 2 years old and he still likes it.

There are no loose parts - I think it's 3+ because it hasn't been tested for under 3s (but doesn't mean it's not suitable)
