Hi,

Does anyone know if the 3ds is not recommended for children under 11 years old?

Dh wants to get one for our ds, who is nearly 8, but I vaguely remember reading that it's not recommended (something to do with damaging the eyes?)

Thanks if you can help!

I don't know if this will be any help and I don't know if there is any actual recommendations but I had a go on one that was out on display at a Game store and it sent my eyes crazy after five minutes, I definitely wouldn't buy one for my DC. It was really strange and made me feel like i had a headache coming on after even that short while.

Thank you alovelybunchofcoconuts, that was exactly what I was thinking.

I've done some research since posting and actually they say that it's not recommended for children under 7, but a lot of adults say just what you did, that it gives them a headache after a while. Appaarantly the way that you're seeing 3D is unnatural for your eyes, so very understandable.

I think we'll stick to the dsi.

Thanks again.

Bit late for this one but all 3D is not recommended for kids under 7 due to the fact that their eyes are still developing up until that age.

You are only meant to play 3DS for up to 30 mins without a 15 min break, if do so you shouldn't get a headache, all so the 3DS must be about 35cm from your face and you have the slider to adjust the 3D because everyone is different.

Just for the record you are not meant to watch any 2D TV/Game/Internet for more then 2 hours without a 15 min break to let your eyes recover.
