Dsi v 3DS

I have succumbed to the nagging and agreed to get my boys a DS for Christmas.

I waso originally planning to get them both a second hand DSi but my oldest, who is 7 is desperate for the FIFA 12 game which only seems to be available on the 3DS. However, my 5 year old will want games like Toy Story.

I looked at reviews which said that older DS games like this don't play very well on the 3DS.

My question is if I got one son the 3DS and the other the DSi, is the difference so great that there will be arguments? Or does the DSi have other advantages eg a bigger screen which would balance it out?

The fifa thing is very annoying isnt it? My ds has his heart set on this game but he has a dslite and it is not compatible..... He has got plenty of use out of his dslite which was bought two christmas ago...so beginning to think about buying him the 3ds.... But a bit grrr about it as his original ds working fine.

OP, according to the lovely man in Game, old games are fine on the 3DS but the problem is that they'll stop making new games for it. Our ds needs a new ds as we're passing his on to wee sis so this has swung it for us.
