Moon sand - really that bad?

My Dd has asked for the moon sand ice cream set for her birthday, I've never seen, touched, known anybody with the stuff. Hear it constantly slagged off on here, is it really that bad? Should I try and persuade her off it? Thanks!

It is the work of the devil - tiny pieces of sand that fall on the carpet, get ground in, go all over the table, the colours all blend together the moment it is played with and there is no way of separating them again.

On the other hand, my dd loves it, so as a compromise other people waste their money buy it and she plays with it on a large baking tray to try and catch stray bits.

Tis a compromise, but it works.

hmmm, thanks. I find playdough quite stressful from a colour mingling grinding into carpet point of view so maybe I should give it a miss. Although Dd loves playdough, so would probably love this too. It's her 3yr old brother I dread getting his hands on the stuff.

Looks like an outdoor toy to me. Good in little table top sandpit in the garden or something.
