Playmobil fire engine for a 3 year old?

I know from the playmobil sets are for age 4+ and I've read on MN that lots of the sets have lots of fiddly bits that end up in the hoover but I'm wondering how suitable the fire engine (and/or helicopter, car etc) would be for a present for a third birthday.

Any views or experience one way or the other would be most welcome!

it's great but remember to keep all the bits together - our fire engine has no cabin roof or wheels anymore Grin

Well my 3yo was fighting with my friends 5yo last weekend for the fire engine.

On that basis I say it's suitable!

Bugger, I really should preview!

'I know that the playmobil sets...' not
'I know from the playmobil sets..' obv.

Does the fire engine have lots of bits?

It's not ours so didn't take too much notice.

However we are used to bloody Lego And pieces everywhere!

Recycling truck is great and not too many bits.

SoMuchToBits · 03/02/2011 21:15

It has some small bits, but is a good set. Even if they don't play with it much now, by the time they are 5 it would be great! But I am a real Playmobil addict, as is my ds (he's 10 now, but had Playmobil from age 5).

You can always remove the smallest bits until they are a bit older.

Thanks. I think I should probably go into a shop and have a proper look at one.

My 4 year old had it for christmas and he and my 20 month old fight over it daily. In fact, I'd say that it was suitable for a younger child than 3, given the fun my younger DS has with it. I've not noticed any bits, but I chuck anything Playmobil related into a big plastic box for my anal FIL to sort out.

Good to know - thanks llaregub!
