why do argos and toys r us have none? i thought girls loved them? have i missed something vital?

Mattel sued the makers. Maybe thats it.

Supposedly they were put out of business by Mattel (makers of Barbie), as Miss Dolittle said. There were plenty in the shops until recently, though.
