Can someone explain bakugan please

Hum ds4 now into this stuff so got him a starter pack comprising three balls and three cards that open these balls.

Erm - don't get this game - how do you play?Is it a really big thing with kids ie should I invest in more of this stuff and if what, what stuff?

DS is nagging me to buy more but I think it's expensive.

It's another card game like Pokemon, Yu-gi-oh etc, only with the added pointlesness of little transforming monster balls.

if you don't know how card based RPGs work think Top Trumps with added magic/ability cards to up your states thats very basicly what all those things are about.
