Tag-along bikes

Can anyone reccomend a good tag-along bike? The ones that attach to the back of a grown ups bike. Also, how competent does the child have to be at cycling before they can go on one? I know most seem to reccomend age 4, is this because of size or competency?

Any info appreciated!

I assume you want a trailer bike (this is the proper name).
Both child's size and ability to hold on whilst going over bumps comes into the rec of 4yo, some can manage it at 3yo. DS managed short rides (less than a mile) on the back of our tandem just before his 3rd birthday.

As usual, you get what you pay for. Burley or Islabikes are the premium brands, most people would be happy with the budget model out of Argos, though.

Check carefully that it will go onto your bike; some bike frames and cable locations aren't suitable!

Yep, I mean a trailer bike...seen them called all sorts! I'd rather pay more and get better quality, as we have another younger child so would hope to get quite a few years from it. I've looked on the Islabikes website (ds had a balance bike from them which was brill) but cant see any...do you know where we could get an Isla one from?

Thanks for your advice, very much appreciated.

Havent managed to find the Isla one anywhere, I think its discontinues. We have found an Adams that I like the look of. Does anyone have experience with these?
