Is it a waste of time at that age?

I need to decide today.

I wonder if it might be better for Santa to bring it? Hmm

yes we did. ~He didnt use it at first but does now (15 mths)
but then it was a lot longer time for my ds until he got more presents

Bacofoil · 11/08/2010 15:16

depends on the child - a one year old who's crawling and nowhere near walking - wait for Christmas

a walker - yes now

though tbh I don't think the 1 yo will miss out by waiting till Christmas

NotSoRampantRabbit · 11/08/2010 15:17

I would wait for Santa.

DS got his when 18 months and was off and away immediately. I got it out for 1 year old DD the other day. She is very confident physically (walking at 11 months) but could not balance well enough to scoot (and legs a wee bit too short) so got frustrated. Then tried pushing it around but it was too skittish and didn't go where she wanted it to.

HTH

we got ds2 one for xmas when he was almost 11 months (youngest of 3 so we had alot of the typical baby presents already)

despite being very active and a great climber he's only just figuring out how to use it now at 18 months... luckily the older two have been using it so it wasn't a complete waste Grin

Ceolas · 11/08/2010 15:26

Yes, she has been walking about a month.

Yes. She is now 18months and is using it properley, although she loved being pushed on it or pushing it around herself before this!

Ds got a ladybird for his 1st birthday. He pushed it around and played with antennas first, started riding it at 14 months, now scooting through the house at great speed:). He is 22 month now and there is no stopping, well worth the money! Oh we got him the large one so he can use it a bit longer:)

xkaylax · 16/08/2010 09:43

Yes my son loved it i would definitely get one

notasausage · 18/08/2010 21:36

Got one for DD 1st Birthday. Beautiful toy but rarely used and she has always been a well co-ordinated child, walking by 1st Birthday and could understand how to scoot on it quite quickly - she just prefers her nasty, plastic, electronic ride on car that she got from her grandparents Sad

I would suggest waiting a little and get the larger size up so DC gets more use out of it.

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 19/08/2010 21:54

My DS rarely uses his. Every now and again I think about putting it on gumtree or something and he'll play with it for about 5 minutes. It's always popular with toddler visitors though.

I never did get him a plastic ride on. He loves them though when we go anywhere else!
