What can I use as a toy box?

I want something to stick all my baby's toys in at night to keep my sitting room reasonably tidy. I don't want to get a proper toy box as we've got a nice one in his nursery for when he's older and playing in there. Just want some sort of improvised solution for now. I was thinking a black wicker basket with cotton lining - one of those shallow ones so I don't have to dig in deep to find stuff. Anyone got such a thing or any suggestions? Thanks - am really starting to get fed up of busting my toes on squeaky toys in the night!

We have got a plastic storage crate with a hinged lid that I spray-painted gold. Looks like a treasure chest (in my head if not really)

TK Maxx also often have wicker/seagrass boxes too.

Ikea do great baskets for kids toys and these round squashy things like a wash basket.
