Had to use the bus a few days ago as my car was in for its MOT and I had few errands to run with my baby in tow. Haven’t used the bus for around 10 years now but I do see alot of debates around the space on the bus for a wheelchair or mobility related apparatus.

there were two spaces on the bus I got on, a large one and a smaller one. The larger one had a wheelchair user in it and the other was empty however I have a doona so just popped the wheels up and had my little one on the seat with me.

A carer got on along with a lady she was looking after and she had with her a doll in a pram and popped her pram in the smaller space. The next stop a lady got on with her pram and baby and a bit of an argument ensued as there was no room for the lady and her baby because of the doll in the pushchair that belonged to the young lady with learning disabilities. He lady with the “real” baby asked the carer to put her clients pram down so she could put hers in without obstructing the aisle and the bus driver also asked but the client point blank refused because to her, I guess she saw her doll as the real thing.
we were at the stop for 20 minutes whilst this carried on and eventually the lady with the real baby got off.

since when did public transport become so complicated?
