1. Eyes open or closed at basin?
2. Do you get the head massage?
3. Do you tip?

I always feel so awkward and never know what to do. Help a girl out!

There was a thread on here a while back and a hairdresser said they really don't care/think badly of clients who don't tip - it's no big deal to them. So don't feel bad!

@Sasha07Yes, my current hairdresser offers a little massage during the conditioner. I agree, nails make it better!

Why would you tip? No way/ they are not a charity. It’s a professional job. I don’t get tipped … awkward as anything 🤣 I probably earn less than they do. That’s just handing out free money.

3. Never. My haircuts are £65, which is very expensive for me. I feel guilty about it, but hey-ho.

Closed, yes and yes. Head massage is my very favourite bit (never asked if I want it, it just happens and on the very odd occasion she’s rushed it and I’ve felt sad 😂😂).
I actually want to now go and book myself a head massage!

I always tip £10, feel tight otherwise. Eyes mainly closed, last hair appt they did a head massage but did feel a bit awkward.

Never heard of hairdressers giving a head massage.

No massage, I have a dodgy disc in my neck.

Always tip a tenner - cut, colour and blowdry is £160 to £180 (mates rates) which is cheap for a first class hairdresser in SW London. Every seven weeks.

I wouldn't mind a head massage if that's what it was - massaging my head but when I had one at
a beautician as part of a massage it mainly consisted of pulling my hair. It was very painful so I asked her not to do it again.
