Have you done this or know anyone who has bought their adult child a house outright when they left uni or were in their 20s?

What impact did it have on their career/life choices and how are they getting on in life now?

Has it impacted their decision to get married?

I'm not a journalist ☺️ We're actually in the process of making plans to do this and I'm curious how it worked out long term. Did it sap them of career ambition or did it give them more confidence to pursue what they were interested in.

Just interested in the experiences of others who have done this. Thanks 😊

Marriage has always been about protecting family assets. It’s a financial transaction at the end of the day. When only love and romance are considered you end up with the shitshows of separation and divorce you read about on MN.

@Cozylittlecottage I think you have been incredibly sensible with your planning and advice.

As much as I wouldn’t do what OP is doing I agree with this - marriage is a legal and financial contract and it’s naive to pretend otherwise regardless of how wealthy you are. Everyone planning to get married should have these conversations.

How long would a marriage need to be for courts to consider it fair for assets to be split 50:50 even with a prenup?
