Do neighbours having noisy building works done lose the right to complain about noise?

If your neighbours are having noisy building works done all day every day, including Saturdays, do you think they then lose the right to complain about your family's noise which is much less intrusive than their building works?

My neighbours got 5 chickens. Except they weren't hens, they were cockerels. These bloody things crowed 500 -600 times a day (I counted). The council didn't care. The neighbors refused to see the problem. The henhouse was in their garden on the side of our property (they have a detached house with garden spaces on 2 sides, one of which backs onto us). I could hear them anyway in our house unless wearing over ear headphones with music playing.

After 6 months of this my husband starting playing death metal loudly every time he heard the neighbours outside (they eat outside/bbq a lot in the summer). Within a week they moved the henhouse to the other side of their property which meant the crowing echoed round an intersection. We could still hear it but it didn't make me want to bash my head against a wall anymore. We're not in the countryside so it affected a lot more houses instead of just us (including 2 blocks of retirement flats). About a month later they'd decided to reheome them (apparently they realized having 5 cockerels in close quarters is not good idea!).

I'm not usually in favor of retaliatory action but in this case my husband managed to achieve what endless complaints to the council and conversations with my neighbours did not.

I wouldn't want to involve my children in a row with the neighbours by encouraging them to play noisily - definitely think that's not a good idea.

What on earth for?
I used to keep chickens, but that was for the eggs so, obviously, no cockerels.
And it's not like they could breed if they were all cockerels.
Odd thing to do.

I wouldn’t dream of complaining if I knew that my neighbours were having to put up with my ongoing building noise. I might mention it if I saw them but only to say the above. Fair’s fair.

We've not complained but have been pissed off at the work going on at weekends as well. Fair enough, the loud drilling and banging is necessary, but the loud music at full blast makes it worse.

When the new neighbour has his own building firm you know it's not going to be the usual 9 to 5 weekday noise.

We know direct neighbours have complained and the boom base jas quietened.

Your neighbours sound entitled if they are complaining about a crying baby after subjecting you to months of noise pollution.
