Being sick everyday for 4 weeks

As the title says. Ive been sick everyday for the last 4 weeks, usually just a little. This time it was quite a bit. Not sure why I was sick as not eaten nice lunch time. I have a doctor's appointment on the 19th for something else. Do I wait till then and talk about it adding to a list of things I have to talk to them about or call 111 in the morning? I'm not pregnant. Pregnancy tests are negative so not sure why I'm being sick. Dont usually get stomach pains with the sickness and nausea but tonight I'm in a fair bit of pain right in the centre of my stomach.

I've been following. So glad that you had a scan and I really hope you manage to get some sleep in the hospital (hard I know!)

Im stuck in a corridor bed so not much sleep for me, I'm having to stick un glasses on the light is so its also giving me a mirgrain

Oh dear OP, that sounds awful. Hospitals do seem designed to make you feel worse before they make you feel better. Why don't you find the PALS email for your hospital and drop them a message? They're normally pretty friendly. You could also ask the chaplain to come and see you. You don't have to be religious and they won't go on about religion. It's rotten being on your own.

Hope you’re ok OP and that they manage to get to the bottom of this. I think you’ve been treated really poorly up to now.

Really pleased you had the CT. Hopefully it’ll give you some answers quickly now. I did reply up thread but it sounds like things got worse.
My BIL had similar symptoms a few years ago but without the brown vomit. He just had really bad reflux - he couldn’t eat and lost loads of weight. He had an endoscopy and all was well. He recovered in time but still has ‘regular’ reflux as does most of the family to some extent (even if some are in denial).

I hope you get some answers soon OP. Feeling so ill and not being given the care you need must be awful. I’m really glad that you returned to the hospital yesterday.

Hope you got some sleep and crossing my fingers, your symptoms are being managed.

That's tough however you cannot leave until:

• the pain is under control
• you can eat and drink without vomiting
• you are clear on what the next medical steps are

Remember that if they start talking about discharge. Just dig your heels in.

I have, been on a few bags of fluids, had anti sickness tablets and pain relief. I'm in for a 2nd night

CT came back normal but they are keeping in another night

Still feeling quite ill they are keeping me in a 2nd night

Oh bless you Inkgirl, it is frustrating that they can't get to the cause. I had a clear CT scan too. The only things that came up were later on an ultra sound, but just some incidental findings rather than a cause. The general consensus was severe and chronic gastritis in the end. Your gp can do a stool test for H pylori infection, but I think that the PPIs can mask the results. Hope they at least give you some sort of follow up and treatment plan. Keep pushing.

It could of course be gastritis but a gastroenterologist tried to fob me off with that in 2022 and in 2024 I had almost a metre of intestine removed due to crohns disease. Sometimes you have to fight a bit to be heard.

Since its Monday tomorrow and more staff are about make sure you tell them you want to see a gastro. Ask about other tests like a barium swallow test. Though that would be dependant if you can actually hold down the liquid for that amount of time.

Make sure you make it clear that you cant leave until your symptoms are under control otherwise you will be back in because you are still in pain and vomiting. Rehydrating you just to get rid of you is pointless.

Nutritionist/ dieticians should see you aswell. Maybe your stomach needs a rest and go down NJ route.

Im not sure how much weight you have lost or can afford to lose but it sounds like you need nutrients and you don't want refeeding syndrome, so it's better to get on top of it now otherwise your stay will be longer.
