Being sick everyday for 4 weeks

As the title says. Ive been sick everyday for the last 4 weeks, usually just a little. This time it was quite a bit. Not sure why I was sick as not eaten nice lunch time. I have a doctor's appointment on the 19th for something else. Do I wait till then and talk about it adding to a list of things I have to talk to them about or call 111 in the morning? I'm not pregnant. Pregnancy tests are negative so not sure why I'm being sick. Dont usually get stomach pains with the sickness and nausea but tonight I'm in a fair bit of pain right in the centre of my stomach.

Oh bless you Inkgirl, it is frustrating that they can't get to the cause. I had a clear CT scan too. The only things that came up were later on an ultra sound, but just some incidental findings rather than a cause. The general consensus was severe and chronic gastritis in the end. Your gp can do a stool test for H pylori infection, but I think that the PPIs can mask the results. Hope they at least give you some sort of follow up and treatment plan. Keep pushing.

Hospital thini its gastritis. So have me dosed up on gavescon and pain relief

It could of course be gastritis but a gastroenterologist tried to fob me off with that in 2022 and in 2024 I had almost a metre of intestine removed due to crohns disease. Sometimes you have to fight a bit to be heard.

Since its Monday tomorrow and more staff are about make sure you tell them you want to see a gastro. Ask about other tests like a barium swallow test. Though that would be dependant if you can actually hold down the liquid for that amount of time.

Make sure you make it clear that you cant leave until your symptoms are under control otherwise you will be back in because you are still in pain and vomiting. Rehydrating you just to get rid of you is pointless.

Nutritionist/ dieticians should see you aswell. Maybe your stomach needs a rest and go down NJ route.

Im not sure how much weight you have lost or can afford to lose but it sounds like you need nutrients and you don't want refeeding syndrome, so it's better to get on top of it now otherwise your stay will be longer.

I can afford to lose about 2 stone. Hopefully they'll listen to me

Was it a full abdo CT with contrast or just a regular CT? I would still push for more Gastro tests like a further endoscopy, barium swallow (if you can).
its all v well suspecting gastritis but sure they have to physically check w a camera. Have you had your calprotectin tested (btw h pylori doesn’t always show up in stool - mine didn’t). They need to do a col test during endoscopy for definitive results.

I know it’s incredibly rare but have they tested you for adrenal insufficiency/ Addisons? Have a google. I have Addisons and advise in an adrenal insufficiency group and vomiting like this is one of the main symptoms people have before being diagnosed. It’s fairly easy to rule out, you need to ask for an early morning (must be 8-9am) cortisol blood test and if it comes back under 300 you should be referred to endocrinology for further testing. Have a google about it all. Many of us were misdiagnosed with stomach issues for a very long time before being correctly diagnosed. They won’t have done the blood test as standard as it’s so rare so you’ll have to push for it.

It was a contrast one, theyve not done the camera because I had one on July 20th

Yea better care now, honestly wasnt expecting to be in 2 nights, wont be coming home till they can sort out my medication

I'm glad you're back in hospital as I was worried about you. I hope they've managed to find you a bed now? Hopefully they will get to the bottom of things soon for you and sort out some decent pain relief.

Thank you, they found me a bed last night. They are still determined its gastritis, theyve done bloods and a ct scan

I did I July when they did the camera its when they found it they just had a miscommunication between them and doctors about my medication that was never sent for it. They did do biopsy as well which I should get the results for in the 19th

Look up MALS.
Briefly it is the stomach equivalent of severe angina. Not only is the pain horrendous, you can't digest food.
It is caused by a reduced arterial blood supply to the stomach.
Hers was a congental malformation that suddenly got worse in middle age. Not sure why. She needed a stent in the artery, exactly the way people need one for cardiac pain.

Its actually my week off, so work have said they are going to keep my leave in place instead of changing to sick so then I get paid more. The kids are staying with their dad an extra week so I can get better. I have a gp phoning me tomorrow which was in place a few weeks.

Ive not been sick since early hours yesterday morning, pain is still there, they've moved me to another ward, was hoping to get out today but if they've moved me to another ward dont think thats happening

The pain was sudden, it was only because of that and my vomit changing from foaming to brown with speaks that I went to a&e in the first place

Let's hope that you get some relief soon and can come home. My pain came on pretty suddenly too. I still have gastritis three years on, but fewer flares.

I would ask them about MALS - probably isn’t as you’d hope the CT would show it but even so ..
