Being sick everyday for 4 weeks

As the title says. Ive been sick everyday for the last 4 weeks, usually just a little. This time it was quite a bit. Not sure why I was sick as not eaten nice lunch time. I have a doctor's appointment on the 19th for something else. Do I wait till then and talk about it adding to a list of things I have to talk to them about or call 111 in the morning? I'm not pregnant. Pregnancy tests are negative so not sure why I'm being sick. Dont usually get stomach pains with the sickness and nausea but tonight I'm in a fair bit of pain right in the centre of my stomach.

It took me nearly 15 years to be diagnosed with gallstones - I kept being told it was really severe indigestion. I could not believe that all it needed was an ultrasound, ordered by one GP who finally took me seriously. The symptoms you describe remind me of things that happened to me which I now realise were probably caused by my gallbladder being inflamed. I was a childminder at the time and just assumed I had picked up repeated stomach bugs.

So not been sick for 4 days.
and still not sick?
so moving in right direction (although i sense that isn’t what you want to hear)

Why are you being so unkind to the OP?

She’s been ill and in hospital.

Not easy when alone and ill to take it all in and they aren’t always great at explaining to you what’s going on.

Your comments are snide and almost accusationary that OP is making it up.

unnecessary.

Yes definitely moving in the right direction, its nice not throwing up anymore but still don't feel 100% a lot better than I was though

Oh think I'll talk to my doctor about that, disnt have an ultrasound so dont think they checked that, hope you're feeling better now

Good idea to talk to the GP about next steps Inkgirl. You have been through the mill this week and it would be wise to talk through the hospital results, in more depth. I find there just isn't a lot of time to ask detailed questions in hospital, particularly if in acute pain. You don't have to give chapter and verse on here.

I had a follow up ultrasound, during which they found small gallstones, but not large enough to cause the problems I was having. This confirmed the gastritis diagnosis and I was able to follow the NHS guidance. The nausea is consistent with gastritis and reflux, but it is scary when it is so severe and sudden. I'd not be at all surprised if you are anxious, it is to be expected. A couple of friends have had gall bladder sludge which isn't easy to detect on scans. I guess it is reassuring that the CT scan has ruled anything to sinister out.

That explains why theyve kept me on anti sickness tablets. And why I'm still feeling sicking. Lost 6lbs whilst I was in hospital, but gutted its not more but a loss is a loss. Hopefully they doctor will be able to explain more to me

Absolutely talk to your GP.

When ds was admitted we got a lot of “it’s not …..” and “he’s well now”.

We went to the GP who then referred to his specialist who was able to explain why ds may have been so ill and she referred on to have some specific tests (he has a disability so it’s slightly more complicated!) one he’s had and has come back clear and sees the neurologist in October.

GOs are primary care and their role is to refer onto secondary care for more tests if needed. I would ask for a referral to gastroenterology.

Think I'm going to have to, sorry to hear about your DS

Morphine? They gave morphine? In a case of gastritis? Are you absolutely sure it was morphine @inkgirl ? Particularly as you say it “didn’t work”

They told me it was liquid morphine. It helped after I had my 3rd c section but not for this.

Utterly inappropriate for stomach issues, especially gastritis, especially when the patient is still writhing around in agony despite it being administered.

How are you feeling now?

WhyDontILearn · 23/08/2026 16:36

I'd say you need to make a complaint. A very quick Google shows that isn't an appropriate medication for the diagnosis.

Think they gave me anti sickness tablets, pick them up layer today. This pain is unbearable. They've given me codeine which i have to pick up later

And codeine?? For a stomach issue

Honestly this just gets odder and odder

Very gently Op… I think it’s time to shower, get dressed, got for a walk and try to get back in the swing of things. You’re back to work tomorrow?

Did that, had a shower went to my boyfriend for a bit and came home. Not back till tuesday. Spent my annual leave in hospital which sucks because I wanted to take my kids out to enjoy the summer holidays.

Are you managing to eat small, bland, regular meals Op? Hard I know but if you can do this and have your last meal 4 hrs before bed time it will really help. Also and I am probably teaching you to suck eggs, prop your pillow up as high as possible.

I managed some chicken for lunch and a bit of melon around 3pm as the boyfriend wanted to make sure I had something to eat before I went home from his but it was just before I had the melon I started feeling ill again

Rice and mash potato are quite good. Also miso soup sachets (from Amazon) and crackers. I guess it might be wise to keep a food diary to see when it flares.

I wouldn't wait to phone your GP tomorrow (unless that's the only way to contact them). I'd fill in an e-consult form (or whatever online system your GP uses) this evening, where you can explain what's been happening, how you're feeling now and what your concerns still are. They'll see that first thing and most likely give you a call to either come in or talk to someone over the phone.

I'll look into the miso soup when I get paid sounds like they'll be good on my bad days. Mash i know I can handle. But at the moment pretty much everything makes me feel ill again
