Which jeans & top?

Heading out for a few drinks next Friday evening. Just to a few bars in town. Want to look casual and not like I’ve tried hard. Plan is to add gold jewellery and probably a black leather jacket or blazer.

I prefer light blue ripped jeans as I think the dark blue ones are too baggy at the back? Help me decide!

The darker ones are a better look, but the shape isn't great. I don't like the ripped ones, and a black vest tucked in isn't a great look, imo.
Have you got a top that looks a bit more structured to contrast with the very casual jeans look?.

Classic dark wide-legs (these are Levi) or a softer loose style. With a simple round or V-neck tee, & a good belt if needed. And classic trainers. Nothing exciting, but well put-together & low-key for a Friday night in the pub - IMO!

Both of these looks are lovely. Casual, but stylish.

These are nice and stylish but too casual unless she wants to look like she’s going on the school run. There’s a balance between normal day wear and full on glam I think that’s what she’s trying to go for.

The darker jeans suit the top more, if you don’t like trainers what about ballet flats or sandals?

Well, the OP did say "Want to look casual and not like I’ve tried hard" & "I don’t want to look too dressed up!" - so personally this sort of thing with some gold hoops would be my idea of casual but suitable for a Friday night in the pub.

I like overdressing for any occasion though, so I would choose differently!!!

There are other tops on M&S, these just look like something I’d wear at home.

Sorry, I actually meant to reply to @pastadish above your post! I agree that the OP's tops are a bit too ordinary. And I did suggest a T-shirt - but there are T-shirts & there are T-shirts!!!

Yes it’s hard to know what casual and dressed up means to different people.
I also love to dress up and don’t do casual for a night out!

That's just ordinary day wear. It wouldn't merit a second look doing the weekly supermarket shop.

No, it wouldn't - but the OP wants to wear a black blazer & jeans & top. And posted pictures of two jeans & top outfits.

The ones she posted photos of are - IMO - not great, so I suggested options that are a bit more considered-looking.

She specifically said she wanted to look casual, & not too try hard & dressed up. So within the prescribed parameters of denim jeans, top & black blazer, that's what I tried to improve upon!!

I doubt if she'd be very interested in what I'm planning to wear out on Friday night ...!!!

Few more images that might be a bit more smart/ casual? I would wear flat sandals/ ballet pumps with all.

Darker jeans.
Black shoes rarely go with blue jeans. Have you anything else?
