The three sisters who died in the sea in Brighton

This is sooo dodgy. There’s no recent photos of them, no one knows why they were there.
They were fully clothed. Handbags on the beach.
Their mum was found dead in a lake 16 yrs ago in Birmingham.
Police have reviewed 100’s of hours og cctv footage and nothing.
What the actual fuck?!

They could really use some lifeguards down at Brighton beach.

i was down there today. People were swimming very far out

Like anyone is going to pay for lifeguards 24/7 across the whole coast.

Backedoffhackedoff · 28/05/2026 17:05

I don’t really get these points. I mean, they didn’t go and get help did they? So why are you saying that’s what they’d be likely to do?

Because I was (implicitly) disagreeing with the poster who I quoted.

So are you saying the falling in/ rescuing each other thing couldn’t have happened?

No, I just don’t think it did, not for all three.

Not across the whole coast duh.

they need lifeguards at the really touristy areas, like the beach Near Brighton pier.

Bondi beach in Australia has lifeguards for example, as it is a very popular beach

They’re not 24/7, just during the day. This was. 5am

The multiple posts about drinking and clubbing make it feel like people can’t understand how anyone can take risks/ commit suicide/ have an accident without being pissed.

your late at night pissed coming out of the club is another persons waking up early and taking a sunrise walk.

they didn’t appear to be in the slightest social, in fact they appear quite isolated. If I had to take a wild guess it’s a damaged family from a likely abuser father/ husband. Funny how so many women in his life have come to peril.

Wow that's a leap and a terrible thing to say.

Yes but even during the day would be an improvement. I was at Brighton beach during the day today, and people were swimming out very far into the sea

I did think of that man in America whose second wife died falling down the stairs and then it turned out that his first wife had also.

See you back here after the inquest and we’ll see if I’m right

I agree, but it is really unusual in a situation like this that nobody except family has publicly talked about them.

Perhaps they too are grieving, and have simply shown an admirable restraint in turning down a fast buck from the tabloids, out of respect for their deceased friends/colleagues.

Yes in heat related incidents. As the title said.

This wasn’t a heat related incident.

Sadly every year teens die in hot weather jumping in to lakes, rivers and the sea. Whilst each one is a tragedy it is not difficult to work out how it happened. It’s a separate thread to figure out how we tackle water safety with teens .

The people we've lost this week didn't die from the heat.

They died by getting into difficulties & drowning in unexpectedly cold/deep water.

Oh for goodness sake - of course I know that. I don’t understand why we are bringing this up all the time.

What I meant is that it is clear what happened in the cases of teens drowning in open water in the last week. We don’t have 11 people dying in lakes in one week in the middle of winter do we? They jumped in to cool down and got in to trouble.

That didn’t happen in this case. It’s more uncertain as to why three women fully clothed ended up in the sea in the middle of a cold stormy night. Yes?

ZanzibarIsland · 28/05/2026 18:03

A case in the news today where a young girl drowned and her mother and a man died trying to save her.

Delatron · 28/05/2026 18:10

Why are we bringing up completely different cases with completely different circumstances? Did this happen in the middle of the night?

It’s weird how the photo the father gave press included him. Weird that it was twenty years ago too but I find it strange that he wanted a photo with him in it.

The step mum and/or aunty provided the photos (first the AI one, then the pne with the father). The father is said to be catatonic.

YoBetty · 28/05/2026 18:16

Scarlettjune · 28/05/2026 14:38

Why does anyone think they were paddling at that time of night.

it’s much more likely that they fell off something

Edited

I was responding to a pp who said that most black women avoid getting their hair wet, and would not have wanted to go for a swim, and just pointing out that if they had decided to go onto the beach, maybe for a paddle, they wouldn't have expected to get their hair wet anyway.

Bondi is popular and also quite dangerous for rip tides I think. There’s a fly-on-the-wall show about the lifeguards there and they often talk about how tourists don’t understand how dangerous the sea is at Bondi.

You think someone murdered three able-bodied women by drowning, one after the other?

Because it is very relevant to the case in hand. Sorry if that theory isn't scandalous enough for your liking 🙄

How do you know the circumstances are completely different? Of course it was a different case. I was hardly claiming it was the same case. 😏 Similarities for any of us who think it may have been an accident though. Two people trying to save one person who fell in

The very obvious and massive difference is that there was a witness to the tragic events you linked to.

I’ve said I think it was an accident. I just don’t know why people keep bringing up other cases. We know people get accidentally swept out to sea and others die trying to save them.

But it is very clear what happened in those cases as it is daytime and there are witnesses. This case is more confusing.

EBearhug · 28/05/2026 19:48

Brighton Beach does have lifeguards, between 10am and 6pm, though they only started 23rd May this year.

Speakofthedevil · 28/05/2026 21:24

I don't find this case the least bit fascinating or mysterious. Tragic - yes, but nothing 'scandalous'.

It's either one fell in, others tried to help, went into shock from cold or similar, so basically a tragic accident of some sort.

Or it's a suicide, due to mum's death/poor mental health.

As for the accident, why does it matter why they were there. Were they drinking or not drinking, wherher they came tipsy to splash about, or just came to see the sunrise. What's the difference, the outcome is the same.

No one just upped and murdered three able-bodied adult women in one go by drowning. There's no 'cover up' or 'scandal' here.

The family is dysfunctional, all the disappearances and whatnot, but this is neither here nor there.
