This is sooo dodgy. There’s no recent photos of them, no one knows why they were there.
They were fully clothed. Handbags on the beach.
Their mum was found dead in a lake 16 yrs ago in Birmingham.
Police have reviewed 100’s of hours og cctv footage and nothing.
What the actual fuck?!

They came from quite a troubled family, it seems. Sister went missing as a teenager, mother drowned, I read also that the father has been very ill himself for a long time.

Sadly it does open up non-accidental possibilities.

I imagine they did have pictures of the three of them, but just on each other's phones, which the police and family won't be able to access.

I wouldn't trust an aunt saying that they were homebodies and didn't drink, particularly if they came from a conservative background (African?). Plenty of people with immigrant families keep drinking and partying a secret!

Last para is so true coming from that background. It really stuck out to me. It’s the sort of thing my estranged family would say - and especially if this was from a random auntie (possibly not even a biological relation or close to them?).

Could be an insignificant comment but even so. Parents thinking they know about their mature adult children’s drinking? These women were in their 30s!

She probably meant 40k.
But the average cost is 3k it is obscene to be adding for 45k.
And given that the formal be most likely all the together, world be a lot cheaper than the separate
Cheeky (at best) to tap up complete strangers

It was originally set up to pay for the 3 funerals. If people have wanted to donate further for the bereaved family that’s up to them surely?

Since this terrible tragedy, nine other people have drowned in cold water incidents around the UK.

To reach any other conclusion other than it is an incredibly risky activity would be perverse in the extreme.

Yes in heat related incidents. As the title said.

This wasn’t a heat related incident.

Sadly every year teens die in hot weather jumping in to lakes, rivers and the sea. Whilst each one is a tragedy it is not difficult to work out how it happened. It’s a separate thread to figure out how we tackle water safety with teens .

TheStepboardisfullofbitteroddos · 28/05/2026 12:14

Their mother "drowned" but no body ever recovered.
Go fund me set up and ££££

Their sister went "missing". Found happy and well in the states
Go fund me set up and £££

3 bodies found in odd circumstances.
Go fund me set up and £££.

Something very odd with this family. No one has spoken about them, 3 people and no one has come out saying they worked/ knew/ friends with any of them. 2 fake photos. No social media presence for any of the 3.

Some sort of suicide pact?

TenTenTenAgain · 28/05/2026 12:17

@TheStepboardisfullofbitteroddos is this true about their mother's body not being recovered?

Was the mothers body really never found? As it was a lake then that doesnt add up. Sea maybe as people get swept out to sea.

Scarlettjune · 28/05/2026 12:18

I think one of them slipped and fell off something and the other two died trying to save her.

a lot of people die in water trying to save other people

This is scary - like when everyone who should be investigating is either totally indifferent or stupid.

I can't tell you how sorry I felt for the parents of that guy, don't remember the name, who was a spy and who was murdered and put in a bag in a bath, a zipped up bag. I can just imagine the grief and torture for his parents - when the officials said, that 'he played a sex game, put himself in a bag, zipped it, in the bath'. I wanted to scream at the inept bastards. Failed him by not investigating properly and then smeared him, portraying him a pervert, for the whole world to smirk. Absolute bastards.

There's a podcast on that case - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/brand/p0gpv57h

How would they have known the mum drowned without a body being recovered?

I think you may be in danger of propagating an idea that water is safe as long as it's not hot weather.

I would very respectfully suggest that is not the case.

Large bodies of water are a danger 24/7.

Scarlettjune · 28/05/2026 12:23

I’m getting several dms asking what my message said before it was deleted. I live in the area and I had heard from a friend of a friend of someone who watched some cctv and said they saw what happened. Not verified information so I agree with mumsnet now that It should be taken down

The body of the mum was recovered though. What evidence is there of a go fund me for the mother?

BillieWiper · 28/05/2026 12:24

It sounds like people are saying they either don't exist or have someone faked their own demise in exchange for money from a go fund me?! That plus the murder angle.

How likely is that?

Not at all - I go cold water swimming all year round and have taught all the dangers of this to my children.

It is very dangerous to jump in to bodies of water in a heatwave - the reason it’s dangerous is the reason it happens! Because it’s tempting in the heat. So we need to educate our children. But sadly this happens in the heat every year

This situation is slightly more confusing as it wasn’t a warm day. It was the middle of the night in a cold and windy day. With a rough sea. Not tempting at all. Hence people trying to understand the appeal of a paddle in the sea in those circumstances.

Blueredyellowgreen · 28/05/2026 12:25

It's very distubing. I hope the police get to the bottom of what happened.

Delatron · 28/05/2026 12:25

I mean it’s pretty obvious a cold sea on cold night is dangerous..

Delatron · 28/05/2026 12:31

Ok so the Mum’s body was recovered.

But reading that article in The Times they were fully clothed even down to their shoes so they were not paddling or planning to go for a swim. I can only think of a freak wave pulling one or all of them in.

So in that case why would they even be there late at night?

bluelightsky · 28/05/2026 12:40

They were church going girls who did not drink or smoke and had a "touch of OCD and didnt want to get dirty" and yet they were on the beach in the early hours of the morning on a cold rough day and noone knows why

Edited

No one really knows if people drink or not. People sometimes say they don’t drink, as they would get in trouble with they do.

I used to know a Muslim man though work. He told me that he told his family and close family friends that he never drank alcohol. He told me that he actually did drink alcohol

CypressGrove · 28/05/2026 12:43

Is it that unusual? I remember staying in coastal towns and walking along the beach after a night out before heading back to the hotel. Even sometimes with my 2 sisters. And I'm sure certain family members would have claimed we were much better behaved than we actually were.

FrothyCothy · 28/05/2026 12:46

There are some mad posts here. Do people think Sussex Police pulled three mannequins out of the sea? There are actual dead women waiting to be buried

As for the photos, given the police are presumably trying to track their movements on the night they died, I would have thought recent photos individually would be helpful, especially if they did attend and event and/or there is a lack of CCTV in the area.

Those saying there’s more to it or the police aren’t investigating properly, what do you think could have happened other than the most obvious answer that they either accidentally or deliberately entered the water themselves?
