The three sisters who died in the sea in Brighton

VeganSteakAndFries · 27/05/2026 21:04

This is sooo dodgy. There’s no recent photos of them, no one knows why they were there.
They were fully clothed. Handbags on the beach.
Their mum was found dead in a lake 16 yrs ago in Birmingham.
Police have reviewed 100’s of hours og cctv footage and nothing.
What the actual fuck?!

It is appallingly easy to drown in the sea by accident, especially if you don’t know the beach or the tides well. You can take a few steps into a calm-looking sea, just meaning to paddle, then the ground suddenly drops away and you’re out of your depth in unexpectedly cold water with your waterlogged clothes dragging you down.

It happens to sober and sensible people. Early morning is a lovely time to stroll on the beach. Any loving sister would rush in to try to rescue her sibling. Let’s not speculate about this heartbreaking tragedy.

Are you new to online forums? Speculating is part of how it all works.

Why on earth did they not just have three separate photos of the women. Surely that would have been better than one from twenty years ago and an AI image

Flamingosareflummoxed · 28/05/2026 07:45

I’m not speculating, but most African women I know would rather do anything but get their hair wet. Depends on how they wore it, but I highly contest the ‘spontaneously going in the water’ story. I also think it’s plausible they didn’t drink. You have to put the whole thing in the context of someone’s culture and interests. If there was MH involved, the family would not disclose that to the press, if they even knew.

If they thought they were just having a paddle, the issue of getting their hair wet wouldn't have arisen.

There are no photos of them at all. Thats what is so odd. Jane Adetoro was apparently an accountant too but there is nothing at all about her anywhere

WonderfulSmith · 28/05/2026 08:31

I don’t know why people are finding the lack of photos odd. If something happened to me and DH I don’t think anyone could summon up a picture of us together more recent than our wedding photo and that’s 25 years ago.

Also, when you give a picture to the press it becomes the picture that is always associated with that person. Think about any murder victim and you’ll be thinking about one or two pictures. Would you want the picture of your family member that is personal to you in every paper and news story?

I haven’t read any other details other than them being named and a quote from the father. I think the circumstances are strange but it isn’t difficult to see how it could happen. They go for a paddle, the sea wasn’t especially calm, one falls, the others try to help, they get into difficultly, cold water shock and panic are a dangerous combination and it ends horribly tragically. We don’t know if they could swim which would make it harder for them to get out of any difficulty.

This seems a likely reason.
So many people don't realise how cold the sea or water in lakes etc is this time of year. It's so easy to get into trouble, cold shock makes you gasp and next thing have water in your lungs. Happens very quickly and often fatal.

fundamentallyauthentic · 28/05/2026 08:36

These women were in their 30s so it is really strange there’s no recent pictures! One sister I could understand but all three?

Agree. I have no idea what happened- most likely a tragic accident.

However, unless the police have more info than they are releasing (likely) - I don’t understand why there’s no CCTV of their movements a few hours before this.

The timings are strange. If they don’t drink and go clubbing (which I think is likely) then it’s a strange time to get up and go for a paddle. I’m sure that is what happened but the timings seem weird. Due to how bad the weather was that night (it was unseasonably cold). Could understand a bit more of it was a lovely warm day and they wanted to see the sunrise maybe.

Also don’t understand the lack of current photos. They don’t need to be together. Individual photos would have bee fine.

Then the tragedy with their Mother.

I mean DH and I have photos together from last week. And every holiday we’ve had in the last 20 years. Why don’t you have any photos together? This is the beauty of iPhones.

My brother lives 300 miles away yet I saw him last week and there’s a photo of us together. My parents just sent a picture of them together on holiday yesterday and they’re 75! Everyone takes photos all the time on their phones!

fundamentallyauthentic · 28/05/2026 08:46

I think this lack of photos points to how isolated they were - they were their own unit and apparently didn’t have any friends.

I think its plausible the family wanted to put out a really nice photo knowing it would become the image of the sisters seen by millions so they used AI, and when called out used the excuse they didn't have a recent one. Rather than one with one with a scowl, or one with eyes half closed or one with mouth half full etc. The sisters aren't on social media and appeared to mainly socialise together so possibly don't have a lot of photos. I think unless you've been in the situation of tragically losing multiple family members you can't really understand how grief makes you do strange things.

I don’t know their exact location, but a quick Google search shows that there ARE groynes in that area

So you don't know the area, but you know better than someone who lives and swims there? This thread is appalling,

I don’t take photographs of myself. I hate having my photo taken and I honestly don’t get this obsession people have with having to photograph themselves constantly.

I don't know how far id have to go back to find a photo of me and DH and I don't have many with me in general. I don't get taking photos of people generally. We take some of the kids - ie achievements, milestones because family like those, but if we are on a holiday I prefer photos of the scenery. I don't need photographic evidence I was there, and I enhance the scene!!

What costs is it to supposedly cover?

Probably funeral cost although that won't be over £40.

It's not just about selfies. Their dad and step mum have multiple photos of Lilly on their social media (the 4th daughter - all made public) but not one single photo of the three daughters. Not even one mention of them.

Its like they dont exist

Is Lily a half sister? I saw her referred to as that in one article.

Why do you get so many photos taken of the two of you together? The only photos of DH and I together that happen nowadays are at formal occasions when they're generally part of group shots. As for my brother, although I seem him fairly often, the only photo I've got of myself with him was at one family wedding five years ago. Not everyone is the same about taking endless photos of people they see all the time.

ThereAreOnlyShadesOfGrey · 28/05/2026 09:09

There seem to be two opposites here.

Some people can’t seem to understand how there are no recent pictures of them, because they themselves clearly take pictures all the time, one poster even said that everyone takes pictures all the time

and then there is the other side, of which I am one, who don’t understand why people feel the need to take pictures all the time. I don’t have any pictures of me. I don’t like to appear in them and I don’t have any on social media.

You’d find it hard pressed to find a decent picture of me, and even if you did, I’d be furious if my family released pictures of me to the media.

😂 I don’t take photos of myself constantly or because I think I look good but because I want a record and memories of the times I have with friends and family. I think that’s normal.

I have far more pictures of friends and family on my phone than me and zero selfies. But I am in some of the photos.
What about photos of yourself with your kids?!

Good luck with trying to arrange a funeral for £40. Average basic funeral costs in the UK are around £3K.

I dont expect people to take constant selfies but you dont have any photos of your own children? not even one since they were like, 13 and now they are in their 30s?

Sorry thats odd.
