Ghost stories to liven up a dull Monday morning!

Starting a woo thread for spooky, creepy, strange experiences! Has anyone got a true ghost story they would like to share to liven up a dull Monday morning? 👻

Ah this was shoes, but West Ealing.
When i left that job i briefly joined another shoe shop in Ealing Bdy which had an underground stock room! Very big, no natural light at all and a steep set of stairs leading down to it. You had to turn the main light out before going up the stairs (stairs were still lit) leaving a big dark chasm behind you as you walked up.

When i started the other girls who worked there clearly enjoyed showing it to me the first time to see if i'd freak out. But no. There was zero atmosphere down there and it didn't bother me a bit being down there on my own all morning sorting the stock out. The manager even said to me one day 'don't you find it creepy down here Laiste?' I just said 'no, i'm quite happy thanks!' No way i was going to tell her i knew what a genuine haunted stockroom felt like and all the disturbing things we'd been through in the last shop. She'd have thought i was nuts!

Not all stockrooms are the same at all.

The house my dad and stepmum lived in when I was a teenager had a horrible feeling to it. When we went to view it I developed such a bad headache as soon as we walked in that I had to run outside and be sick. Headache faded as soon as I got back into the car.

it always felt oppressive and like it did not want to be lived in. If I came down in the night for a drink I would put every light on as I went and turn them all off as I went back upstairs. One night I swore I saw and heard a creature run and hide under the dining room table as I turned the light on to go through to the kitchen. Whatever it was, it was about 3ft tall and was on two legs and it sounded tippy tappy on the wood flooring. Needless to say I abandoned my drink and ran back up the stairs leaving every light on behind me.

I was pleased when my parents moved out, there was a lot of sadness in that house and a lot of sad things happened.

Myself and my husband viewed an old villa style house many years ago…I walked upstairs, my husband a few stairs behind me…I felt something pass directly through me, my husband also felt it pass through him…couldn’t explain it, just a really heavy feeling within the house prior to this. We immediately turned around and left the house.

Not woo as such but my best friend has been in old hotels or places where there’s been paranormal activity, she’s asked to swap rooms, certain places she just won’t go to. She’s religious, Catholic but also into reiki and other stuff like that which isn’t very Catholic apparently. My mum is also quite like her in that sense. I’ve had experiences but never seen a ghost or not that I know of.

I don't understand why they come on these sort of threads anyway 🤣. Go to AIBU or chat, and leave us believers to it!

My mums story which made me laugh.

In the 80s my mum worked in an office which was the 1st and 2nd floor of an old black and white building, it was old. The ground floor was a building society.

There was a basement which was used by the office to store box files although it was rare anybody went down there. One day a co worker went to the cellar and according to my mum you went into the cellar and the light switch was a few steps in. Before she could get to the light switch the coworker went in and saw a dark figure standing in the cellar staring her. She screamed, dropped the box and ran out shaking and very upset.

My mum and another coworker decided to go into the cellar and retrieve the box and see what was going on, she admits she was very scared but was more curious so fuelled up with false courage my mum and co worker went into the basement and ran to the light switch and switched it on. The dark figure was a cardboard cut out of the queen that had been put in there by the staff from the building society.

Everyone was very relieved and had a good chuckle. My mum did say that the building had a weird vibe at times and you sometimes felt you were being watched, but my mum never saw anything but could well believe the place was haunted.
