Weird coincidence or just normal?

We were on holiday last week and my DD found a coin randomly. She kept pestering me to keep it, it wasn’t worth much I think just probably a pence in our money or equivalent. A few hours later she complained of an upset tummy (she hardly gets sick), I just put it down to swimming in heat all day and ignored it and did not link to coin at all as that would be crazy right? That night I hate an awful dream, I don’t remember most of it but parts I do remember were a horrible sense of dread and a voice telling me to throw it into water. Next day I got DD to throw into running water like a waterfall type thingy near the hotel.

Has anyone heard of anything like this? We are not religious at all and I don’t really believe in paranormal stuff but this really spooked me out and I had to post on here. Shall I just forget it? If the coin was indeed cursed Will throwing it away have helped?

What exactly are you suggesting was paranormal about this? All you've described is your DD finding a coin (normal), her getting a stomach ache (normal), and you having a bad dream (normal) ... unless I'm missing something here?

Mumm11 · 15/04/2024 21:41

I know it sounds crazy but I felt the coin was cursed. Getting rid of it was a relief. Can this happen?

no

Oversharingsonewusernamehaha · 15/04/2024 21:44

I'm confused. It's pretty normal to have bad dreams on holiday (rich food, different bed) and get sick on holiday (rich food, different viruses circulating). You also get different coins on holiday (currencies). These are separate events.

Sunshineismyfavourite · 15/04/2024 21:45

I doubt very much if I would have even associated the coin with a stomach ache tbh. Dreams are super weird especially in a different environment than that you are most used to and if you're stressed or worried about something. I think your sub conscious brain must have had the coin in your memory and obviously you were worried about your DD. Sounds like the most logical explanation to me?!

Errrr yep. It does sound a bit crazy to be honest. How can an object be cursed? Ha ha!

Justcallmebebes · 15/04/2024 21:50

That's a new one, a cursed coin! No, I think it was all a coincidence and not really much of a coincidence, to be fair

MistyBerkowitz · 15/04/2024 22:04

No, it can’t. Are you normally this superstitious about minor illnesses?

Crapuscular · 15/04/2024 22:32

I really hope that you didn't tell your daughter that it was cursed.

EarlofShrewsbury · 15/04/2024 22:38

We take the kids to Butlins each year, I don't let them use the arcades until the last night because they almost always get an upset tummy.

I think it's from handling all the dirty 2ps.

It's probably a coincidence in this case though.

AtrociousCircumstance · 15/04/2024 22:39

Op. The coin was not cursed. It was just a coin.

The imagination is a powerful thing.

Cheshiresun · 15/04/2024 22:40

I think it would be stranger if you had the dream BEFORE she found the coin.

Scenekidfringe · 15/04/2024 22:46

I have been a few places in the world where foreigners are expressly advised to wash their hands/sanitise after using local currency and have also known a few travellers who have failed to heed this warning and ended up with the squits.

Most likely a total coincidence but I hope she's feeling better.

Watchthedoormat · 16/04/2024 18:29

Very likely the coin was full of germs and your dd got poorly due to touching her mouth after handling it.
Dream was most likely a coincidence.

medianewbie · 08/05/2024 16:03

Probably germs from coin (on floor?) = upset tum. Vivid dream = coincidence/your own brain processing days events.
Mind you, many years ago as a teen I worked on a market stall. Sold costume jewellery but bought / sold a bit of silver & gold too. Local travellers used to come most weeks & sell their gold (& often later buy it back again). I fell in love with a ring with horoscope symbols on. I bought it & wore it when younger. I've often wondered if it 'brought bad luck' / the person had meant to buy it back later so cursed it.

Hotpinkangel19 · 08/05/2024 16:42

I don't know OP. I once found a bracelet and bad things started to happen so i gave it to my friend as she really liked it. Not long after her dad died. I begged her to get rid of it

If you find money you need to spit on it
