My house

I’ve always been a believer but never really experienced anything until I started working in a 1500 something building locally.
Especially one room there is a strong feeling and I’ve had a few experiences there (I posted here about this when it first happened) and this summer we stayed in another very old house which used to be the priest house next to a graveyard.
in the night my daughter and I were woken up by dragging footsteps down stairs and doors opening and closing. It was terrifying.
once home one day I say scrolling on my phone at home and a drop of see through liquid fell onto my hand. It looked like a tear drop and it couldn’t have been accidental drool because how far away from my face my phone was and the angle. All my windows were closed and I checked the ceiling thoroughly for any wetness but found nothing.

Weeks later, last night, in that same room, laying down waiting to get tired I felt fingers gently stroke my cheek.
afterwards I couldn’t stop overthinking and with the Halloween decorations (massive skeleton) I had to sleep elsewhere.

I don’t want to be one of those people who contribute everything to supernatural reasons but it’s hard not to.

when it happened I thought immediately it could be a guide or guardian angel but then I worried if it wasn’t.

any wise or encouraging words? I’m confused and feel a little bit stupid

My DM had an unpleasant experience in a house share in her 20s (posted about this here), subsequent friend who shared same house but later saw/experienced a ghost.

DM also (don’t think I’ve posted this here), in her 20s her friends bought an old schoolhouse in the country (Kent/Sussex way). Friends were on holiday and said she could go to stay, key under mat etc. she drove down with her dog and said there was strange unexplained bangs all night and I think she either left in the night or next day. I mean it could’ve just been any old bangs but DM is convinced it was spooky.

I’ve had experiences in old buildings (not necessarily ghosts) - Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese (London) pub in toilets I definitely felt something or someone didn’t want me there, very threatening. Similar in Conquest House, Canterbury also in toilet felt similar feeling, something or someone didn’t want me there. And also on the stairs there.

So I definitely think in your cases something supernatural happened. You could go down the psychic route or just take them as I have which are spooky/supernatural encounters. If I lived somewhere haunted though, I’d definitely get a priest in to bless/exorcise the place.

You know what's strange? All these ghosts inhabit these old buildings, yet when someone was gruesomely killed in a 2000s new build, there isn't. Low rise jeans, and von Dutch wearing ghost haunting the development.
Strange how they are only from the past

Nope, not me but I’ve heard of ghosts in new builds and there are modern dressed ghosts. Maybe as it’s more recent there are less cases.

There’s a tale here of someone who saw a man in 70s/80s clothes in or outside a nightclub.

seafronty · 14/10/2023 19:07

Sure there is. Sure there are ghosts rocking about in North Face and Air Max.

I used to work with a guy who told me he saw the ghost of a young girl and this was in quite a newly built apartment in London

He said he saw her a good three times. One time she was sat in the bath. I think the other two times she passed through a room or the hallway

He looked into it, the history of the building, and found there was previously a train line there and that there had been a crash and people killed. He said she was badly burnt

The thing that spooked me about the story was him. He was a very quietly spoken man, very serious, not a practical joker etc. He believed he'd seen what he was telling me. For him to have told me that it made me listen. If it was somebody who had a totally different character, not a serious person, I don't think I'd have taken them seriously

I'm open minded, not experienced anything myself and I find it interesting that most experiences you read about are either at night or when the person has just woken up so not totally with it

I'd like to think that lost loved ones do have the ability to contact us but who knows

FourStringsNoWaiting · 14/10/2023 19:58

I can't say whether you've had a paranormal experience or not but I think it's natural to feel confused when you've had an experience you can't explain so there's no need to feel stupid at all. Hope you get to the bottom of it

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 14/10/2023 20:13

@FourStringsNoWaiting , agreed here. My experiences I was perimenopausal and the London experience was on a Halloween ghost walk.

I’ve never seen anything myself and I think my DM is far more susceptible to the paranormal than I am but I don’t discount the paranormal.

I don’t disbelieve you at all but it seems in this man’s case even though this woman was killed in the train crash she’d appeared in the flats. Unless she died in the flats. But how could she move from eg a train line/carriage to the interior of the flats? I’m not saying this can’t happen though.

I worked in Spitalfields for a few years (only because I was out the last time) and one of the most haunted pubs is the Ten Bells, as an office we rarely drank there though, the Golden Heart (Hart?) and the Commercial Tavern, the few times I did go in the Ten Bells it had a strange atmosphere but as it was one of the pubs on the Jack the Ripper tours it could get very busy.

The whole premise of this thread is ridiculous. Every single person has a 4k recording device in their pockets, nobody has a video of a ghost. Weird that.

Well it doesn't seem harmful if it's gently stroking your cheek . Maybe ask it to go toward the light and not be afraid , I once read a lot of spirits are afraid to go into the light.

My Ds has trains as an ASD special interest. He showed me a video of London tube workers who 'walk the tunnels' (old fashioned safety protocol which is, surprisingly, still done today). Anyway, these gruff, time-served, practical engineer-type men spoke of creepy experiences they'd had. It was genuinely scary at times due to that.

We had a poltergeist in our old house built in the 1960s , The next owner who I had never met before and didn't tell them about the poltergeist had an identical experience to me . They contacted me and they related their experience while I listened, no prompting .
