Intuitive psychic stuff - not ghosts

Never posted on this before, am a science grad with fairly intact mental health!

For many years I've noticed some weird stuff - mainly getting some really intense feelings about something or someone - especially bad things but not always.

Examples being: a really close friends premature Death, including the reason - a few years before he died, friend's husband who had Covid, was going to die; my own dad, I suddenly knew when he was really going downhill (ok, some of this might have been obvious).

Also, have really strong feelings about people, like when I'm thinking of someone who I still have a very close bond with from years ago (an ex) I swear I can feel when he will get in touch and always does!! Happens so much. I can almost feel his energy creeping into my thoughts .Also I can feel if something planned is not going to happen!? Okay, now I'm typing this I think it sounds silly 😝 ! Other day I thought I'd see if I thought about him for a while he would get in touch... THAT day he did! Probably coincidence?!?

Other week I met a man socially in a group who I just felt really 'off' energy from, for no obvious reason, and I had a VERY strong feeling he was a really bad person and had done something, sinister even - told friend but honestly I thought I was probably crazy and a bit OTT 🤣... other week I heard he did something unspeakable 😩, which freaked me out a bit!! I was right....

Feels good to get this stuff down and now I feel a bit bonkers!! Anyone else get this? When I was little, my mum told me I would know random peoples names etc. Im very empathic and notice small things in people maybe? I am not a woo person at all and don't believe in conspiracies, etc etc

Everyone should listen to their intuition there are tiny signs we might not obviously notice but our subconscious does and by listening to it we can learn so much.
I tend to be able to predict things quite accurately but randomly I think some of it is from learned experiences, some is intuition but some is definitely unexplainable.

Plankingplanks · 11/08/2023 16:25

I literally posted something very similar 5 days ago!!

weebleswobblebuttheydontfalldown · 11/08/2023 16:52

Oh wow! I'll look for it!

Defo think it's mainly intuition... but still freaks me out 🤣

hihelenhi · 13/08/2023 00:22

Well, I can be pretty woo, but I don't think this is always woo necessarily. I'm similar, and cognitively, have always been very good at picking up underlying patterns, and it's closely linked, I think.

As Bloodandglitter said, "gut instinct" like that is so often about picking up on very small signs subconsciously, especially when something or someone is "off." Animals do so after all, and we are animals. As a person sensitive to these things, your brain has instantly recognised something you're seeing in this person (or plan) doesn't quite fit or there's something not quite right so immediately rings the Klaxon screaming "OFF!" to you. It can be a pretty good alarm system, as you've discovered!

The 'same time' contact thing is harder to explain though.

weebleswobblebuttheydontfalldown · 15/08/2023 16:23

Yes!!! That does make a lot of sense, and probably, rationally what was going on!

BeverlyBrook · 25/09/2023 21:49

OP have you read 'the gift of fear ' by Gavin de beker?
Really interesting book, looks like your Spidey senses are working super well!

LightSpeeds · 25/09/2023 22:11

Yep, I'm the same as you OP. Premonitions and visions of illness and death, and sometimes bad vibes from people.

I don't get it so much now that I've gone through the menopause...

weebleswobblebuttheydontfalldown · 26/09/2023 00:04

Thanks, I'll look at that!

I had one yesterday that has really freaked me out!! It was spot on, not about anything bad at all, but so random and clear with no subtle clues, I wish it didn't happen actually, it makes me uneasy.

Weirdly, I used to get it a lot as a child and younger adult, but it's been really on overdrive - I'm going through peri meno at the mo and on HRT, my mental health has improved loads too so I feel really clearheaded. So strange 🤣🙈

Iguanas369 · 26/09/2023 00:10

Similar here. I would get a feeling when something bad was going to happen.
Now I will have a dream or randomly think about someone and then very soon after I will see them in the street.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 29/09/2023 09:42

Not so much people but places and certainly from age 35 onwards (now 52). Get bad vibes about some, not so much people. I’m on HRT too.

TheBirdintheCave · 29/09/2023 09:53

I often get 'premonitions' a few seconds before something happens. Most of the time I just ignore it and then get cross with myself for not actively doing something to stop said thing. It's only ever with little things like a cup falling off a table or my toddler falling over even if he's walking perfectly sensibly.

DoratheFlora · 29/09/2023 10:25

Yes, me too. I often get a 'knowing' feeling about things or people. I used to dismiss it but then it would often turn out to be right.

Every now and again I will hear a statement in my head. It always comes out of the blue when I'm not expecting it or thinking about the subject. It's ALWAYS right.

It's also struck me that I see and notice much more than the vast majority of people. Stuff that is glaringly obvious to me just seems to pass other people by. If I point it, people regularly agree with me and say that they just didn't see it.

I never share this with people. If I have mentioned it, people are quick to dismiss or come up with their own theory. It's a really useful super power! You just need to listen and trust yourself.

This! Honestly some things just seem so bloody obvious to me that I don't know how other people DON'T see them!

squareyedannie · 29/09/2023 19:47

I think some people are really good at picking up on non-verbal cues which can tell us a lot about a person.
I also think we're all connected and again, some are able to just reach out to those we know no matter how far we're separated.
Have a look at The Global Consciousness Project. It's really interesting.

WhileMyDishwasherGentlyWeeps · 29/09/2023 19:51

Um, it’s all coincidence and after-the-fact justification. Nobody can ‘intuit’ the future or a distant event.

cassiatwenty · 29/09/2023 19:51

Watching, facsinating stuff

StBrides · 29/09/2023 20:03

I'm the same, op

TeeBee · 29/09/2023 20:11

Yep, I'm the same OP. Also have a lot of premonition dreams, which feel very different to normal dreams.

I have intervened twice by texting someone while they were considering suicide. I just suddenly get a feeling I have to check on them.

Potiphar · 29/09/2023 20:12

I think what’s happening is you’re forgetting all the hundreds of times you prophesied something and it didn’t happen and all the hundreds of times you thought of someone and they didn’t suddenly ring you a minute later, and are concentrating on the relatively few number of times it “came right.” The times it didn’t work didn’t even register on your brain (why would they?)

The being able to spot a bad ‘un thing is different. Millions of years of evolution have gone into making us able to spot subtle clues about predators.

PollyAmour · 29/09/2023 20:16

I rely on my gut instinct - I've met certain people and my mind says NOPE, despite them being charming and friendly. Further down the line, their true colours have been revealed and they are anything but charming and friendly underneath.

lordloveadog · 29/09/2023 20:35

I'm sort of glad it's just not me that sometimes has these premonitions. But I find them so frightening, and the idea that I had this sense of dread about someone's wellbeing or something happening and it turned out to be right is such an unsettling thought.

I'm also a science profession rationalist and have no business having premonitions or believing in them. I'm keen to interpret them as picking up on small signals, but it doesn't really fit. They haven't thank goodness happened very often. I told DH about them and he clearly thought I was crazy, so I've never mentioned them to anyone else.

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 29/09/2023 20:46

I often think about people and they ring. I think it's to do with literally being on the same 'wavelength' as someone. Picking up on their thoughts and communicating with them.
My special talent is Wordle. I always start with the same word (first guess). To solve it, often I just pluck a likely word out of the air, and get it right on the second guess. I think again I'm picking up on the wavelength of someone who's already solved it. It's called Morphic Resonance. The computer (wordlebot) will tell me afterwards how many possible answers there were after my first guess and it's often a one in 30 chance, or thereabouts. It will say I was lucky. Nope - I was reading the waves!

namestevalian · 29/09/2023 20:46

Similar here

I have also predicted several pregnancy's and the engagement of someone I met 5 days before it happened 😂

The other night I predicted the results of an awards show pretty accurately , sadly this luck doesn't extend to the lottery .

I also have certain friends (2) who I will think about contacting ... go to send a message and they are "typing" and contact me as if we have some kind of energy connection ... very strange and happened TOO many times to be coincidental

CurlewKate · 29/09/2023 20:59

Please don't be taken in by The Gift of Fear. His line is basically a) women are responsible for being attacked and 2) I run courses that will help-here's where to apply.

Mountaineer0009 · 29/09/2023 21:10

i get what you call a gut feeling at times, sometimes you dont know all the details its just a feeling with the associated thoughts of x about the event.,
sometimes i learn it was an accurate gut feeling sometimes its not.
overall i use my gut feeling as a guide to what i currently know and consider the gut as possible information.
