What came in the catflap?

In bed with dcat perched on top of me, when the catflap crashed shut loudly, and dcat growled! We've both searched the house and can't see anything untoward...

Probably the sound of a cat making its way out after rifling through your things.

Beeinalily · 09/05/2023 02:58

And if anything is missing it was a cat burglar!

It could be a fox, I remember we had a fox barge its way through the flap (even though it was one of those chip ones!) to get to the cat food because it was dangerously underweight - Poor thing must've been starving.

Maybe be on the safe side and keep an eye out!

We have cats and I sometimes hear the cat flap go when I can see our little darlings so I know it's not them. I'm convinced it's a local cat coming in for food. They / it is smart enough to come in through the cat flap without letting it slam shut but on the way out isn't bothered about making a noise and so lets it rattle! Fortunately, we're happy for them to have the food our fussy cats don't eat! Our cats will look up but they don't make any attempt to protect their territory. They're so soft...

Another cat probably. I got up to go to the loo a night or two ago and a black fuzzy blur ran past me, my cat is tabby.

Bloody hell, I eventually got to sleep and had such a nightmare that a big bald man with a demonic grin came through the catflap. You know when you're trying to scream and it won't come out? Cats fine, foxes okay, people? Nuh. Or demons shivers

We have had foxes using ours. Cheeky sods.

@SpicyMoth@soddingspiderseason

I am really susprised can even fit into a cat flap like that,
thought way too big to be able to manevore themselves like that,

I like foxes intelligent animals...

I live somewhere very rural now, and I've never seen a fox here. In the city they were everywhere! Anyway, mystery solved (I think), because yesterday downstairs was full of the wonderful smell of tomcat 😑

Demons don't use the cat flap unless they are very low level/beginner and desperate. They are perfectly well able to simply materialize inside the house.

Beeinalily · 14/05/2023 14:37

I'm sure you're right @ViperHalliwell , but it smelled pretty demonic! The demon thing was just a dream, but it was so nasty that I was scared to sleep the next night - something that hasn't happened to me since childhood.

Get yourself a mini wildlife camera and set it to record overnight. Put it outside so you can see general comings and goings and you might be surprised. Foxes, hedgehogs, mice, shrews, squirrels, multiple cats. Not sure if demons are similar to vampires with no refection/recording though.

Beeinalily · 15/05/2023 11:36

@Pixiedust1234 that all sounds a bit technical for me! I did recently discover that there used to be a local hunt, so it might be a ghost fox. Much more acceptable than a demon, don't you think? About foxes though, I'm sure there must be some but I think they're much more timid than the city ones. Ds and I saw one being chased out of a posh hotel once!

A ghost fox is way better. Leave the odd dreamie out and I'm sure it would be happy with that. We have foxes that visit and the cubs really have no fear getting into scrapes and small spaces. I had one that insisted on getting inside several hedgehog feeding stations on a regular basis even though I had "mazed" the different entrances to stop the neighbourhood cats. The contortions it put itself through 😮 I hope your nights are more peaceful now 👀

Beeinalily · 15/05/2023 22:39

They're clever little critters, aren't they? My nights are as quiet as they can be with a bonkers cat, thank you x

Adarajames · 15/05/2023 22:48

I had someone break in in the early hours one morning by kicking his way and then crawling through the dog flap!

Beeinalily · 16/05/2023 15:26

Crikey @Adarajames , while you were in? Did he/she succeed?

OP posts:
Adarajames · 16/05/2023 20:34

Yes I was in, and not long out of the bath so was rather grateful I was dealing with it in pjs and not just a towel!
I challenged him with the aid of one of my waking sticks, and had him sitting on his hands in the corner of the hallway when the police arrived, thankfully, very quickly

People, we have a new hero...
