I think we have a child ghost

I have 3DC under 7. For a while now we have been seeing a small figure dashing down the corridor in our house and passing by doorways. Often when my three DC come into my bedroom in the morning it is behind them or amongst them. They also see it. Seems to be fondest and following around my middle child (he's 6.) Quite often in the morning (she) will come into the bedroom with him and I'll think it's my actual 7 year old, then she shadow will run into a wall.

Is this something I need to be worried about? Do child ghosts like being with other children?

We used to have a ghost in a previous house we rented before buying our first. Was never a home. Friendly it was not. It was very sinister and overbearing.

We never used to discuss it outside the home for fear of sounding batshit and we were never "woo" before that.

I have a science based degree, sit on a board of directors for a global organisation and I couldn't believe it was happening to us. Felt like I was losing my mind and living in a parallel universe.

Too many things to list but a few:

  • would hear our names being called from another part of the house. This happened to both me and DP on numerous occasions and always when we were each home alone. It sounded like it was mimicking our voices.
  • was washing up one day (middle of the day just doing my shit) and I felt someone like stood directly behind me and pressing into my back pressing me into the sink. DP was upstairs and I completely lost my shit. Wasn't long after this one we left.
  • random stenches. Like rotten meat bad. Just be sat on the couch watching a movie and the stench would just descend.
  • whispering right down my ear when in bed.
  • the feeling of impending doom. I know that sounds absurd but a feeling would descend out of nowhere. We could be doing something completely normal and not even thinking about it and it would come over us.

Me and DP both experienced things but initially didn't discuss it together, we both thought we were losing the plot. Eventually everything come out in the open.

Fuck knows what I'd have done if this happened after DD was born, I'd have been out of my mind.

It was a very strange period of my life that only my close family know about.

I came across this thread while looking to see if anyone else has had this issue! I don’t usually believe in ghosts, but we recently bought a 125 year old house and the sound of playing from my 3 year old son’s bedroom, while he is literally sound asleep, is kind of freaking me out. Whatever little ghost child this is favours my son’s old-fashioned toys, like wooden blocks, rather than all his plastic stuff, and the sound of stacking and tumbling is quite distinctive. We are literally in the room next door to my little boy and the wall is thin and the first time it happened my husband went in to tell Arthur (our son) to stop playing in the middle of the night but he was absolutely fast asleep (as expected at 2 in the morning!). It doesn’t seem to be an eerie presence, just like a kid wanting to play (and it’s definitely a girl, we’ve both sensed that), but it is scaring me more than it is my husband, who just shrugs it off. It’s not bothering my little boy either, who sleeps through it. It is DEFINITELY not our little boy doing this. He comes into our room as soon as he wakes up, whatever the time. He definitely would not sit in a dark room by himself playing with blocks on his own.

Much as I don’t like the idea of ghosts and spirits, I’d feel really bad trying to get rid of her as she’s not doing anything awful, but it is quite unsettling. This is kind of a weird thing to ask for advice about but it’s definitely real and I’m definitely out of my comfort zone!!

Have you said anything like 'off you go now into the light?' Might be worth trying before you contact someone who might 'connect' with her because how do you really know who can and who is lying?

Are you saying you find your son’s blocks disarranged and in different places to where they’d been left in daytime?

you could perhaps try a space clearing ritual - all very nice and not designed to be nasty or like an exorcism but to release stuck energy and purify the house in a good way. have a google. Karen Kingston's books are good.

A friend of mine used to see the ghost of a Victorian (girl) child at her Victorian house. She estimated her age at about 6.

She only saw her very rarely.

This child ghost wore a Victorian sailor suit, appeared out of one wall of the upstairs landing, walked across it and then into the far wall.

Her husband didn't believe her until he saw it !

Crazyworldmum · 01/05/2025 16:02

The issue you might potentially get is it attaches to a specific child more and spirits have a way of using human energy so play close attention to your children for any changes .

Unless this has been caught on camera, I'm going to assume it's your imagination because ghosts don't exist.

When I was a small child I saw a lady in my grandmother’s front room. When I told my grandmother what I had seen she said it was ok, I could go and play in there, the lady was gone. It turned out that my aunt, 12 years older than me had seen exactly the same thing, a few years earlier. When I went to stay with my aunt recently, she described exactly what I had seen, an old lady wearing an ankle length grey dress, button boots and a starched apron. We both saw her rooting through a triangular shaped drawer, obviously agitated because she couldn’t find something. I firmly believe we saw a ghost, and in both cases it was broad daylight and the woman looked real.

A relative used occasionally to see a little ghost dressed in a sailor suit. The house dated from the Victorian era. IIRC it was nearly always just outside, in the garden.

How do you know they don't exist?

There is also no proof that they don't exist, unless you have some?
