First tarot reading

Hi, I had a reading done online today and to be honest, I don't really know what to make of it!

Please can someone explain how it works and what gets seen by the reader?

The cards represent current and future energies, some are positive or negative, for example you can see how someone feels about you or you about them, you can predict if love is coming into your life or whether you'll get that job, pregnancy. The pictures on the card basically tell you but some use intuition of there own you put the story together.
