Before sleep a long time ago…

Just been thinking about this… happened a few times when I was 14-15.

So I’d get cramp in feet but was ok. I did the thing where you press up against eyeballs and see stars and other colours.

But a few times when I lay down in bed before sleep I’d have the funniest feeling like I was on a roundabout lying and spinning round. Years I’d been on one! No alcohol, caffeine or drugs taken when this happened.

Sleep paralysis, hormones or other? What was it?!

I get this sensation when I'm very tired. It actually makes me feel sick if I don't go to sleep straight away!

Vertigo should see a doctor if keeps happening

Saffrondoormouse · 18/02/2022 18:54

I used to have this as a child - no idea why! I used to find it quite fun!

Justkeeppedaling · 18/02/2022 19:05

In get this occasionally - always have done.

BuddhaForMary · 18/02/2022 19:15

I get this and I've been told it's vertigo. I mostly get it in bed, usually when turning over.

Turningacornernow · 18/02/2022 20:19

Vertigo.

I had this and was a symptom of iron deficiency. Took me 15 years to sort it out!

Turningacornernow · 18/02/2022 20:21

Also cramps are sign of iron deficiency, worth getting a blood test to rule it out (they test level of ferritin which ought to be at least 50 ideally).

Thecurtainsofdestiny · 18/02/2022 20:35

I get this. For me it's benign positional vertigo.

Just seen the replies! I don’t get it now thankfully! Maybe did have iron deficiency back then!

It was only a few times when I was lying down just before sleep and was actually pleasant!

I have this too since I was young and also don't mind it.

Is the GP likely to be interested/ is it linked to anything worrying?

GattinaGattona · 25/02/2022 13:55

Labrynthitis?

Eh?

I'd guess vertigo from your description.

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor - my brother did this too sometimes we’d just press our eyes when shut so we could see stars and lights etc.

The lying down I don’t think it was vertigo in fact could’ve maybe been an out of body thing. I just recall it happened a few times before I went to sleep, no drugs, alcohol, medication etc and was actually quite pleasant.

Oh, I thought the eye pressing was to get rid of the cramp Grin
