John Lewis encounter

So about a week ago something happened that I can't really wrap my head around. I was waiting outside the (disabled) toilet of John Lewis. A chap came out, about mid 30's, smartly and neatly dressed, looked pretty normal, quite delicate features I would say, and well groomed. All very normal. All except one eye of his (I could only see one eye really so don't know about the other one) was red where white should be, and also glowing like there was a light inside it. It was really weird. My first idea was, maybe something to do with a disability. However, I googled it and found nothing. I am not sure I can adequately explain it, so your thoughts please!

He was a cyborg, obviously 🙄

He was the executive toilet demon, nothing to worry about.

NarcissistsEyebrows · 29/01/2022 15:52

Voldemort

MissMarplesGoddaughter · 29/01/2022 15:52

Eye tattoo

MyOtherProfile · 29/01/2022 15:53

No idea but I bet you can get contact lenses that do this these days

LizzieVereker · 29/01/2022 15:54

Day drinking.

(You)

The white of your eye can go bright red if you burst a blood vessel. It heals and goes back to white.

Could it have been a trick of the light that you thought it was back-lit? If you only saw it for a split second, perhaps your brain interpreted light shining on it as it being lit up?

HairyShins · 29/01/2022 16:01

Eye infection. Burst blood vessels. Colour contact lens. Eye tattoo. The devil.

enjoyingscience · 29/01/2022 16:02

Eye infection or you briefly hallucinated.

ConkerBonkers · 29/01/2022 16:04

Runningoutofnewnames I like your explanation the most. I googled some burst blood vessel images and they look pretty close to what I saw. The area we were in was well lit with bright lights, so yes, I think it's plausible that they may have given the man's eye the impression of being back lit. Thank you all! My husband thought cyborg ftr 😆

@GirlInACountrySong

eye infection
Don't be ridiculous.

Clearly, he was a robot OP. He probably worked there, that's why their customer service is so good. It's well known.

NoddingTulip · 29/01/2022 16:21

He's a robot employed to prevent all the undesirables from entering the store, that's why you only ever see respectable people shopping in Waitrose, the riff raff have all been vaporised on sight by his lazer beam eye. The light you saw was him scanning you as a possible outcast to be zapped....... this is legit true as my cleaners, aunties, friends, cats owner is big cheese at head office and told us so.

TyrannosaurusRegina · 29/01/2022 16:40

Burst blood vessel. The white will go the colour of blood, then fade, the white will have a bit of a yellow tinge before returning to white.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 29/01/2022 16:52

Lizard that had not fully transformed back to human form after having a wee.

Obviously.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 29/01/2022 16:54

Woooooo the robots are coming….

MondayYogurt · 29/01/2022 20:20

Can't you burst blood vessels from constipation straining?

MrsMoastyToasty · 29/01/2022 20:25

Was he an albino?

Jody21 · 04/03/2022 22:18

Crossroads Demon!

Dancingwithtearsinmyeyes · 04/03/2022 22:28

I thought this was a thread about meeting the real John Lewis Confused

fallfallfall · 04/03/2022 22:33

Burst blood vessel. It doesn’t affect your vision, and like a bruise will fade to yellow before totally reabsorbing.

Jamboree01 · 04/03/2022 22:35

Potential demon…
