Seeing friend who passed a while ago in my dream?

I had a school friend who died 13 years ago in a car accident. He was the best friend of my high school sweetheart so we spent a lot of time together, and I had a lot of time for him. I think of him every so often.
I’m going through a very hard time at the moment. Last night he was in my dream alive and well, at a party with my school boyfriend. I had a feeling he would have to leave but it was like I didn’t know he was dead.
What does it mean seeing people who have passed in dreams? Does it mean anything?

I like to think so. My dad passed away last year after a long illness. The next night, I dreamt that he held and hugged me - it was so vivid, he hadn't been in a position to hug me for such a long time - and then we had a conversation about how sad it was that he had died and how much we would miss each other. I woke up feeling immensely comforted and still close my mind to recall that feeling of hugging him when I miss him.

I think whatever brings you comfort - and think that there are more things in this world than we can possibly hope to explain...

I like to think so too.

I lost my cousin this year and that’s part of the reason I’m having such a hard time as I’m struggling to come to terms with it. I hope every night to dream about her but it’s been 6 months and I haven’t dreamt about her at all

You may have had a visitation. Sometimes they can say significant things in the dream and want to pass on a message and sometimes they are just passing by and saying hi in their own way.

When my Grandad died my mum saw him in a dream a few weeks later. He told her he was ok and that he didn’t feel pain any more. She took immense comfort from that. She completely believes it was him telling her he was alright.

So do I to be honest.

A few months a I saw my late husband in a dream.He was walking straight past me, side view only and wearing his familiar dark blue raincoat.He never spoke just kept looking ahead of him.
What got me was he was walking at a normal pace, something he had been unable to do for years because of his severe heart disease, but his face was the same greyish white colour also caused by the heart disease.
