Wow this is strange

Today I was talking about the 1990 film Misery!!

Now it's on my google history, I haven't even googled it.
It's like my phone had heard me!!
It's well creepy.
Anyone else had this?

Eyes and ears everywhere. Next they'll be ads for it and all Stephen King related books on your social media. Shame it doesn't work on the lotto

Your phone did hear you. It has a microphone.

I heard somewhere once that Google can know a woman is pregnant before she knows. Something to do with what you search for and buy online. So I suppose it's not unreasonable for them to know from your data pattern what you'll be thinking about next. People are predictable for most of the time.

I was doing skype training at home. I was asked to look something up, because it was on skype I needed to do it on dds ipad.

The search was in my google history, even though I had never googled it before.

I was talking to my DD about the brand Superdry (saying how much I don't like it so would never have searched for them / gone on their website etc). Literally as soon as I'd had the conversation ads for Superdry on insta, facebook etc - phones are definitely listening to us.

This happens all the time. It's your phone listening to you. Scary! I actually only seen this meme about earlier!

All smart phones have a 'listening' mode. You have to manually turn it off to disable this feature, the default setting is on.

I remain sceptical that it is actually off but what I talk about doesn't feature in my google history or influence the ads I see so would just be routine covert spying instead of by permission. I also deny all cookie permissions, some of them are really intrusive if you read them.
