Can a psychic please explain this

A friend of mine recently went to see a clairvoyant and she said to my friend do you know someone called "name" she then shouted the name three times and tried to explain but went on to something else. The name is my 5 year old son and since then I've been very anxious as though something might happen to him. I've since phoned the psychic and she told me oh don't worry it's never anything bad but I can't help feeling worried. His name isn't very common so I know it was him she was talking about. Am I right to be feeling worried? Does anything ever happen in these cases. Absolutely on pins all the time since hearing this. Please can someone put there help.

I'd say she googled your friend's social media accounts prior to them meeting

She was cold reading. She threw a name out in the hope it would mean something to your friend. I’m guessing your friend didn’t give to right vibe so she moved on to something else. Please don’t worry about it. It’s bullshit

Hi Ticklemee, yes I know this is possible but my fb account is private so no chance she could go on there and my friends account has nothing about my children on so this isn't possible.

But she said his full name then said no that's not right it's then his short name. And shouted it 3 times. It's easy to say don't worry but I can't help worry, it's my little boy 🙁

I can't imagine any friend of mine would pass on something like that to me knowing it'd make me worry. That's what you should be worrying about here.

I’d go and see her and have my own reading. (Everyone else will tell you that you’re worrying over nothing, though, and they’re probably right.)

This won't be a coincidence, she will have known the name would mean something to your friend - these so-called psychics have ways of getting information about their clients before the reading is done. Don't worry about it.

There are no psychics, what they are is very good at reading the involuntary signals that people give off when these 'psychics' are talking to them. In addition, people are generally very bad at remembering exactly what was said, and embellish their encounters with these charlatans to fit with their own circumstances. If people could truly predict the future they would be rolling in money at the very least.

A family member of mine works at a major London venue and has watched hundreds of clairvoyant/medium/psychics (including most of the famous ones that are well knows and have tv shows) doing full stage shows and private sessions before/after the show.

She’s 100% a believer of the paranormal and of people having psychic abilities.
She has told me that she think 95% of the clairvoyant/medium/psychics are fake and have no genuine psychic abilities, instead they have talented researchers who check out the people who have booked tickets online, and study people in the audience and queue waiting before the show.
Some of them even have people who stand in the queue or sit in the audience to listen for information to send to the people backstage who then compile all the info and feed it to the ‘psychic’ on stage.

She said they are usually well trained in reading people can guess random things about a person based on the the smallest of clues.

They are usually very talented at what they do, but they very rarely have any actual psychic abilities.

I just wonder how she has connected my sons name to my friend, I hardly see her and there is nothing on any social media to link my sons name with her. DH thinks it's all bollocks and can't stop laughing, I'm a bit more sensitive unfortunately. And his name isn't common. Thanks for all your replies though I am feeling a bit better.

It's just a coincidence, OP. Think of all the hundreds of people your friend knows and all their children. The psychic was throwing a name out there that just happened to be your DS's.

Anyway pretty sure psychics aren't 'allowed' to give bad news so even if by some tiny miracle she is genuine she isn't it would only be something random not bad news at all. Forget about it

It’s highly likely She called out a dozen or more random names throughout the show, your friend just forgot about them or didn’t pay attention because it didn’t mean anything to her.

It’s very common for them to say things like “does anyone know a William, will, he sometimes went by billy” or “Hayden, no Aidan, or it could be Adrian”

Also you keep saying your sons name is unusual, unless is something like Apple or Neo it’s unlikely to be as unusual as you think, and the less common names are probably more likely to be called out because very few names are really uncommon and chances are most people will think “on my gosh I know a Zara/saffron/Leo/Jensen, it’s an unusual name so it must be about the person I know”
Rather than a John or Dave, because it’s common obvious.

You poor thing OP! Please don't worry about this. As you've said, you hardly even see your friend. Logically, why would your son even be mentioned in a reading for her when they aren't even close? The 'psychic' was reaching/grasping at straws which is what they do. Then the person having the reading is left to make connections.

There is so such thing as a psychic, clairvoyant, medium or fortune teller.

They are all frauds and manipulative charlatans who prey on the vulnerable. Watch Derren Brown's video on it and then don't waste another moment thinking about it.

I'm not a psychic but I am a person who is very good at reading people.

The way it works is she will say names until she picks up on something from her audience. Your friend obviously reacted to hearing your sons name. It could be as simple as a raised eyebrow, blinking faster than usual or eyes widening.

Once the 'psychic' knew she had gotten a 'hit' with your friend she shortened the name to make it feel even more personal.

Remember that everyone who goes to see psychic wants to hear something that is connected to them, even the smallest thing will cause them to react and 'psychics' are very good at picking up on and running with that.

Your son is fine, please stop worrying about this and have a lovely weekend.

I can understand your concern OP, I have had a few readings in the past, in my experience Mediums do not predict future events. I really don’t think you have anything to worry about. If you have a spiritualist church close to you perhaps have a chat to them about it and they can allay your fears. Without being disrespectful to your friend, do you think what she said was genuine. I have only ever heard from very close relations when I have had readings, so I would think it strange for a friends son name to be mentioned tbh.

And yes, they say all sorts of shit. I sometimes watch a couple on Facebook ( they pop up in a group I have ) and they're hilarious. Utter charlatans

I often wonder why clairvoyants / psychics never predict the lottery numbers. I suppose the fact that my son was mentioned anxiety got the better of me.
