I'll start with the usual disclaimers about not being especially woo although I'm not closed minded altogether. But I once met someone and when we looked into each other's eyes I felt this total recognition. I tried to think of anyone they reminded me of and drew a blank. We were only briefly acquainted but it honestly felt like we had known each other before. There was no romantic attraction between us but it felt like there HAD been before - even though we'd only just met.

Anyone ever experienced this? I know all the usual theories about subconsciously recognising traits in others and can usually pin down who they remind me of but this one eluded me! A friend is very into soul rebirth and suggested that we had known each other in a previous life and maybe been romantically involved. She reckons she has met a few people again including former lovers or enemies.

I’ve had one person in my life like this and we did end up romantically involved (not that it ended well!) but he was a lot like my Dad and I tend to think it was to do with recognising him in him as apposed to anything woo.

Yes I did wonder if it was the usual subconscious recognition thing but I really couldn't think of anyone. I didn't stay in touch with the person but I can still remember looking into their eyes as we shook hands and feeling that odd sense of recognition.

My friend’s husband. When they started dating she introduced us and we knew each other. It was like a happy reunion. But we didn’t know each other, had never met. We’ve spent hours trying to think of how we might have met but our paths had never crossed,
He is actually very woo and he suggested it was a meeting in a past life which I laughed off, but maybe.
It was never a romantic feeling for me, more like a recognition of a brother. They’re very happily married and I have a close relationship with them both.
