Help me find my house key

Just that really!
Both mine and OH front door key has gone missing. Both silver keys on their own not on a ring.
Turned the house upside down more than once.
Contemplated the dog eating them.
We don't have any spares and would rather not have to pay for a locksmith Confused
If anyone has any clues or can help pleeeaasseee Star

When I lose my keys they are usually hung up where they're meant to be instead of chucked wherever and I am amazed I've been tidy.

When my brother loses his keys they're always in the toilet.

Ex mil put hers in her bra (no pockets)

Occasionally.. Try the fridge.

ForTheLoveOfSleep · 22/02/2018 20:15

In the front door? Not that I've ever done this... Blush

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 22/02/2018 20:19

They are in your handbag.

sanasa · 22/02/2018 20:25

Definitely not in my bag, or hanging up or in the door, toilet or bra Grin

Kitchen. That’s where mine tend to be. Or the make up box/ drawer in the bathroom.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 22/02/2018 20:28

Did you check the little pocket in your handbag? The one you never ever use?

Hellywelly10 · 22/02/2018 20:28

Check all your coat pockets then under the sofa!

callmekitten · 22/02/2018 20:32

Your pet has carried them off and put them in your shoe.

Namethecat · 22/02/2018 20:33

Coat pocket.Next to your shoes. In a glove. Where you keep your carrier bags. In your childs toy box. On the floor outside your door.

QueenHalloween · 22/02/2018 20:36

In your sofa

sanasa · 22/02/2018 20:36

Checked all of the above.
Will check again though.
This is actually driving me nutty.

Check your coat pockets for holes. If there are holes, check the entire lining of the coat ...

QueenHalloween · 22/02/2018 20:39

When they disappear for good they are usually somewhere trousers and other pocketed clothes get dumped, check all undressing areas and the washing machine, especially in the rubber seal. Failing that I'm guessing someone else's sofa Grin

Janek · 22/02/2018 20:44

Dressing gown pocket?

kelper · 22/02/2018 20:48

When DH loses keys (on average once a day and he's a mechanic!!) they're usually in a seriously random place that he doesn't even remember going to!
Examples include in the fridge, in another car, in a coat pocket he swears he hasn't worn for ages, in a shoe, and also attached to a magnetic phone case 🙄
Hope you find them op!

sanasa · 23/02/2018 12:08

Anyone know how much a locksmith costs Confused

OP posts:
Amber0685 · 23/02/2018 12:11

When did you last have them?

TeeBee · 23/02/2018 12:15

You don't need a locksmith most likely. Is it a Yale lock? You can pick one up for around £20 and fit it yourself...very easy, look on You Tube.

TeeBee · 23/02/2018 12:16

But this is exactly why I have a massive bunch of keys with all of my keys on it; less chance of getting lost. I could kill a small whale with that hefty bunch.

sanasa · 23/02/2018 12:20

Key last seen on my doormat Wednesday morning after OH locked up and posted key through letterbox.
Normally do have massive keys but took it off to leave in door as OH lost his (how ironic and no we I am not normally so careless).
I have literally had the house upside down and looked EVERYWHERE.
I don't think it's a Yale lock

Just replace the barrel bit of the lock, you’ll get new keys with it, cheap and easy

AmethystRaven · 23/02/2018 12:22

Check your shoes. I lost my car key and it turned up in one of my boots, I must have had it in my hand when I took them off or something!

sanasa · 23/02/2018 12:24

Amethyst I've checked all shoes. Pockets. Behind radiators, sofa, you name it I've checked.

can I replace barrel if the door is locked?? Having to come out back door to get in and out.

TitaniasCloset · 23/02/2018 12:25

They are down the sofa. Or in the messy drawer. Or possibly in with your kids toys?

TeeBee · 23/02/2018 12:25

Looks like a Euro cylinder. You can get a new barrel for £35 on Amazon.
