It's not the buying of them you want to worry about, it's people giving them to you 'because we know he will have a good home with you' that is impossible to resist.

to stop thinking every other child has a perfect never put a hoof wrong saint os a pony, try to stop worrying if children haven't been near ponies for couple of weeks due to weahter/mummy's work or school . I get so anxious about htis and feel as the ponies costing so much money must get children really into it and out every day, also worry constantly about ponies going mad if not exercised. I have been very unwell post operatively and cannot do anything really so need to chill and think easter will be the time to resume pony led activity! PLA the tack room's answer to BLW

MitchyInge · 30/12/2009 10:57

mine do go slightly mad without exercise, although with some too much is as bad as none at all isn't it?

is there anyone who can ride them for you from time to time to take the pressure off a bit - this sounds like one of those periods in life when you really have to be your first priority

other than that roll on Easter!

Happy New Year! Well, am obviously joining thread a bit late to say Happy Christmas.

Pixel, are you still listening to The CD? Was working really well here until a few weeks ago when the weather turned. Paddock impossible to ride in and lanes far too icy. So, remains to be seen if my new found confidence is still there when weather changes. Mmmm. Do hope so.

Mummydoc, agree with Mitchy can you not get anyone else to ride while you take time out to look after yourself? I always remind myself that this is a hobby and as such it should be enjoyable first and foremost (well most of the time anyway.

Happy new year to everyone. My resolution is to stop worrying too much and expecting too much and enjoy it all (difficult at this time of year though!)

Mummydoc, I always feel like we should ride all the time because of the cost and because I want to keep the pony fit so I know what you mean. Trouble is, everything else gets in the way.

If there's no one to ride could you/someone lunge occaisionally? I really enjoy it and so do the kids (although they insist on having their turn at being the pony)

I caught gd trying to lunge her rabbit this afternoon. Not happy bunny

Hi Owls, I thought the cd was working but I haven't bothered listening to it for weeks as the chances of actually riding are zilch. I haven't been on dhorse in about 3 weeks and even then we got caught in a hailstorm which didn't do much for the old confidence! He was ok during the actual storm as we managed to get behind a huge hedge but he didn't like all the reflections and spooked all the way home. Must say he did a lovely piaffe (imagine me trilling 'little bit of dressage' here ) when someone appeared out of a driveway carrying a big parcel LOL.
Anyway, I'm resigned now to waiting until things clear up, atm it's all we can do to keep them dry, fed and watered, let alone anything else. I did spend some time the other day badgering our field owner with all the reasons why we need somewhere to school so I haven't given up all hope.

Mitchy! No email from you but was about to hassle you anyway. Have you checked your box lately Also, not heard from Korma re CD so not sure if I do have a problem with email address or she is avoiding me.

Ahh, Pixel we always have tomorrow or the next day don't we. When the ground is not hard/soft/icy/rutted......We will do this you know! That can be our mantra for 2010.

thankyou for words of support tackroomers! this has to be the nicest "topic" on mumsnet , now squabbles every one lending advice / support etc. I do get the ponies lunged by yard staff and have organised noddy to be schooled once a week aswell , i know it will be fine when I am back on my feet so to speak and weather better and more daylight ! roll on easter !
