Ok so long story short I have a horse and have previously told yard I’m thinking about selling her the yard owners daughter (in 40s) wants to be gifted her (due to her having some riding quirks)despite her quirks is a high quality horse good confirmation and previously competed high level the daughter is very novice particularly in the riding aspect of things horse is young un confident and can be difficult to ride (perfect on the ground) I hate conflict and am a people pleaser but can’t in my right conscience let them have her I’m now finding myself dreading going to the yard as I often get interrogated on what’s happening with said horse and how they want her we have decided to move yards for a multitude of reasons and have been told it’s crazy I’m thinking of moving her and they “will work her so much she won’t even think about playing up” as the owner I feel my decision of moving her should be respected but I cant bring myself to tell them they can’t have her and find myself avoiding the question or moving around it. also I’m often spoken to differently and in a condescending manor not being taken seriously without getting into too much detail horse has had multiple health issues and is being moved to take a break with vets advice who think it will do her the world of good what should I do?! But they believe this is crazy and won’t make any difference Any advice appreciated

Just move as soon as you can, and don't discuss it with the bonkers yard owners! It is none of their business what you choose to do with your horse.

I agree leave asap doesn’t seem it would be good for horse and the comment about working her is a warning flag

i’d move yard as soon as possible

if you need an excuse, if you are young-ish maybe you could say your dad part funded the horse and went ballistic at the thought of giving it away so youve been told to stop being silly, move yards to somewhere closer to home, go up and ride more, and no giving up the horse he half paid for. sorry (name of woman), but i cannot give you the horse or all hell will break loose in my family.

Horse prices are still high, that's why they want to have a free horse. Once they have possession of your horse they'll probably sell her themselves for £1000's.

If you're sure you want to sell, think about putting her on sales livery so she can get some professional schooling while she's there and have a better chance of a good long term private home. Otherwise just move elsewhere so you can get time to think about options without being pressurised.
