do you have to be a member of a polo club to play polo? As in play a match. Dd is learning and has been asked to get some gear for it and will be starting instructional chukkas, but I don’t understand what the end game is for dd learning.

Sorry to say the end game is bankruptcy, unless you are loaded! I have a work colleague who used to find it cheaper to fly to Argentina to play polo there than play it in the UK. I have several friends who have worked as polo grooms, they work hard and get very little polo for it. It is fantastic fun though (I have had a dabble) but I would have no idea where to start actually playing matches.

How old is she? If young, Pony Club would be a good intro into playing matches at a more reasonable level.

i also dabbled, but my pony would only turn left, which was limiting….

How old is she. If she is planning on University there many unis with a team that play.

University of Surrey is one I know of.

Sorry I didn’t get back dd is 13. I’ve thought about schools that play it but she’s entering year 9 now so that ship may have sailed too. She loves it but I’m thinking it’s time to stop. Even the lessons seem a small fortune.
