Feel like I want to give up

Ive had my horse for 6 years, I got her from a rescue santuary. I have lost confidence and have been up and down with riding for a couple of years. Im not enjoying it, costs so much money and my 11 year old barely rides and never wants to come to the yard. I dont know what to do for the best, I cant imagine handing her back but I also think of the relief.
I cant put her on loan as thats in the contract from santuary.

I gave up about a year ago after 34 years. It was a massive relief. I bred mine and he is now a rather beautiful field ornament. We are both so much happier. I don’t even really want to ride again - told myself I could use the money having lessons on a beautiful schoolmaster or galloping hirelings round Windsor great park (both expensive but not as much as keeping mine going), but I’ve not wanted to go anywhere near a saddle since I stopped. Never thought I’d be here and happy about it!

Wow this sounds like such a relief, this is how I feel. I am thinking of the money I can save and even if I did want to ride I could go on a hack at a riding school or ride one of my friend's horses. I know if i sent her back she would be snapped up because she is a good pony but has a lot of quirks which have now made me nervous.

It’s supposed to be fun - it’s much too expensive a hobby to keep going if you’re not enjoying it… if the charity will happily have her back then why not get in touch with them and start the process of returning her.

Just give her back and tell them that your circumstances have changed .
